Sequins and Sea Breezes: Cheers to the freakin' weekend!

Cheers to the freakin' weekend!

Happy Friday dolls! We made it through another week!

We play music throughout a sound system in our office and this song came on yesterday at about 3:30 and all I can say is man is this song disappointing to hear when it's not quite the weekend. I feel like hearing it on a Tuesday would be ok but Thursday near the end of the day when you already wish it was Friday is like torture. I will be listening to this at about 3:45 this afternoon just to get some sort of satisfaction from knowing it actually IS the weekend now!

So I know it's usually "Mani-Monday" but I prefer "Mani-Friday" instead. I know it doesn't have the same ring to it but no one really wants to do their nails on Monday. It's not like any one besides co-workers will see them any way (I'm generalizing that everyone doesn't have a social life during the week to make myself feel better about the fact I'm usually in bed by 10:30 at the latest during the week). For this edition of "Mani-Friday" I decided to channel my inner Posh Spice (or maybe Elvira...who really knows) and go with your basic black. Since spring is fast approaching and I'll be putting away my dark colors soon I decided to do one last super dark color before I start breaking out my fun pastels (ok fail there, I already broke out the pastel purple last week).

Ok so I hate doing my hair when it's raining or I know it's going to rain. My hair is already flat from being so baby fine and thin so attempting to my hair when it's raining is pointless, I'm just going to end up looking like a drowned rat anyway so usually I just wear it up in a ponytail or ballerina bun. This week I decided I was sick of the boring ponytail and I've done the ballerina bun enough recently so I decided to take it back old school and rock a topsy tail. Yeah, I haven't seen anyone sporting a topsy tail since I was in like 5th grade but I have noticed more Pins on Pinterest with more complicated versions of the topsy tail (Like the triple topsy tail? Or the topsy tail chignon?) but I have absolutely no ability to do my own hair so I just stuck with the good ol' topsy tail. I have a feeling I'm going to be bringing back this look more frequently just to switch it up!

{Proof I rocked a topsy tail at work yesterday}

If you can't find me this weekend it's because I've locked myself away trying to knit sweaters for penguins. I swear I'm not crazy, it's a real thing! See:

Before PETA starts attacking me for animal abuse please note this is a picture from an article a co-worker of mine sent me yesterday from 2011 and not actual sweaters I forced penguins to wear (truth be told, I couldn't knit something if my life depended on it. I'm not that crafty). I do however have an unhealthy obsession with anything penguin related. You can't really tell from my topsy tail picture by my monitor background is a picture of penguins on a beach that same co-worker took when she was in South Africa and just to the right of my laptop is a stuffed Ty (Beanie babies anyone?? Come on, I know you remember beanie babies!) penguin that was given to me. So please hold off attacking me animal rights activists, I have not (successfully) kidnapped any penguins from the zoo although I came close to trying to take this little girl:

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

    1. Haha!! One ring is from Forever 21 and the other is from Sophie & Trey and thank you! :) I actually didn't use the little red thingy, I did it all on my own, which is probably why it's a bit messy! OMG I'm SO jealous you had your corporate dinner at SeaWorld WITH penguins! So awesome!! I was at SeaWorld doing the Behind the Scenes Tour when I took this pic! :) Have an amazing weekend!

  5. Ah, I know! I have that song on my iPhone and sometimes when I play it on random that song comes on. If it is the weekend, great! If not, it's like the week is just rubbing itself in my face. Nice nails! And those penguins are adorable!
