Sequins and Sea Breezes: I See London, I See France...

I See London, I See France...

3/25/2014

I'm definitely feeling the itch to not only take another vacation soon but to leave the country again. I absolutely love seeing other countries and experiencing the history and culture but I also get homesick easily so I usually make this trips quickly which means I have to do as much as possible so I'm constantly going. Last year around this time I went to London and Paris for a week and had an amazing time. It worked out perfectly because I had a friend who had recently moved over there so I got to meet up with her and her husband in London, my friend was living in Germany at the time so she made the quick trip over to hang out AND my parents (who love London as much as I do) decided to go to London the same time so I got to see them which is awesome because I usually only see my parents a few times a year.

{Scenes from London: Chelsea, Borough Market Umbrellas, Bangers and Mash, St. James Park}

{Scenes from Paris: The Seine and the Eiffel Tower, Nutella Crepe, Paris from the 2nd floor of the Eiffel Tower (up 704 stairs), The musée du Louvre}

I'm not really sure why I love London so much. I always hear so many mixed reviews, some people love it and some people just don't care for it. My dad had a love for London before I ever went so I don't know if his love rubbed off on me or whether I just fell in love with the city on my own but I absolutely adore everything about the city. I've done all the touristy stuff and this past time I had a chance to experience some more "local" places.

One of my favorite parts about London is the history and architecture. We don't have ANYTHING like it over here so I'm completely in awe passing by these buildings that have been around for hundreds of years. It's weird walking through thinking about what all has happened inside some of these buildings. Plus, I'm a sucker for a gorgeously structured building.

Truthfully, I wasn't AS impressed by Paris as I was by London but we were there for significantly less time so I didn't feel like I got to give is as much of a chance. The food and wine were obviously AMAZING but I felt it was dirtier than London and the Metro was horrible compared to the Tube. The architecture still had me completely in amazement, everything was so beautiful and there was something so chic about sitting at the Champs-Élysées people watching while having a glass of wine and eating a crepe with the Arc de Triomphe right there. I definitely didn't get to do all I would have liked to in Paris (it didn't help that I forgot about the time change from London to Paris so I rushed us back to the train station an hour early) so I'd definitely like to go back again some day.

So on that note, I'm definitely craving another vacation soon. Any suggestions on must see places? I'm always up for ideas and suggestions on places to go and see!

    1. I've heard great things about Helsinki! Definitely a place I'd like to visit. I need to go back to Paris, I definitely didn't give it a fair chance but London is by far my favorite! :) I did a river cruise down the Thames to Greenwich and back. It was fun getting to see where they filmed some of Pirates of the Caribbean!
