Gala Red-y
3/15/2016
Happy Tuesday lovelies! Hope everyone's week is off to an awesome start! Some of you may have already seen that over the weekend I attended a gala that was kinda for work, kinda not. The event was the UCP of Central Florida Gala at the Palace which benefits children with cerebral palsy. The company I work for holds the UCP of Central Florida very near and dear so I was honored when I received the invite to attend the gala. On top of having an excuse to get all dressed up it's for a great cause and one I was extremely happy to support.
Of course like most girls, I immediately started thinking about what I was going to wear. Sadly outside of a few bridesmaid dresses I really didn't have much in the way of "formal" wear so I started my hunt for the perfect dress. I couldn't find anything in stores, every thing was either too prom-y or too expensive so I gave up the hunt for awhile. About a week before the event I was reminded about it and realized I needed to jump back in my search. There were a few cute dresses on Rent the Runway I was interested in but of course waiting so last minute most were booked the weekend I needed them so I started my hunt online when I came across this dress. I've been told in the past that red is my "color" so I scooped up this one and crossed my fingers it would fit. I got the dress 2 days... yup nothing like last minute, before the gala and while it fit like a glove everywhere it was WAY too long. I took pictures in it and sent it to a few friends and my mom and asked if they thought it was too long and everyone said "well it won't be when you put on heels" umm... I'm wearing 5 inch heels in the picture... LOL. So after some back and forth and some serious internal debate I decided to just suck it up, wear the tallest heels I owned and rock it. So here we are! Moral of the story; short people problems are a real thing haha!
I didn't want to be too overdone for the event so I kept my jewelry fairly basic opting for some suspended ivory pearl drop earrings and some dainty bracelets and topped off my look with a fun leopard Clare V. clutch (thanks Ker!).

ReplyDeleteThat dress is gorgeous! Red is definitely your color - it looks so great on you! Way to rock the super long dress though... I'm a disaster in heels so I would have had to get it hemmed for sure #shortgirlprobs
ReplyDeleteThis dress is flawless on you! I was hoping you'd do a full post on it! So glad everything worked out with the length and yay for RTR! Perfect for work events and galas <3

ReplyDeleteWe love galas and tis the season for them! This looks great on you and I love the red paired with the leopard accent!
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing!! Love those earrings paired with the dress as well. And, oh man, nothing like having to resign yourself to wear the tallest heels you own so you don't have to get something hemmed last minute. Definitely #shortpeopleproblems.
ReplyDeleteThe dress is gorgeous and I like that you kept it simple with the jewelry but added a fierce purse. You could get it hemmed for like $10 so you can wear it again with shorter heels. I'm always taking things to the seamstress to fix.
ReplyDeletegorgeous dress! i love the color. xo jillian - cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteHoly cow! I don't even know what to say. You look beyond stunning! Red IS your color and the dress fits perfectly. Love how you did your hair, too! You must wear this again!
ReplyDeleteUm, you look gorgeous!! Red is definitely your color!
ReplyDeleteThis dress is spectacular on you!!! You look gorgeous and red carpet ready!! :-) I hear you on the short people problems too. I'm only 4'11 and everything is too long for me!! :-)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous... simply gorgeous!! And I hear you on the "short girl problems" - you pulled off the length though. It looked amazing; only thing I would have worried about was tripping! Other than that, not too long at all! Make today work, Rachel -CubicleCouture

ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS dress you are rocking ma'am! You look fabulous :) Love the back of it too!!!
ReplyDeleteI cannot get over you in this dress - absolutely stunning! Red definitely is your color, and I love how you brought in the leopard clutch for a little pop of fun!
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing! Red is definitely your color and that neck line and open back is so gorgeous. I've been on the hunt for a long gown and wanted to do RTR, but for the same reasons decided against it-- too risky to wait until the day before, especially needing a long dress. Anyway, I've never shopped at Lulu's before so I'm off to check it out now!
ReplyDeleteYou seriously looked so beautiful all dressed up! How exciting is it to get dressed up for a formal event when you're an adult? The dress really did fit you perfectly, and I love how you kept the accessories simple yet very classic!
ReplyDeleteRed is definitely your color- you look fabulous! LOVE the open back and you can't beat the price!
ReplyDeleteNothing like a last minute dress crisis to make you think outside of the box! You nailed it with this one, what a gorgeous dress and it fits you like a glove. I could only dream of having dresses that long on me, they're usually swinging somewhere around my shins... Bit drafty and not at all cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful dress and you wear it so well :)

ReplyDeleteWow, you are stunning! Love the back too! I don't think a woman will ever look anything less than gorgeous in a red dress.

ReplyDeleteThat dress is so gorgeous and you look amazing! Such a great color and the back is fabulous! Don't you hate when a dress is too long (happens to me with everything I buy), at least it gives us an excuse to rock some killer heels!
