Beachy Boho
6/16/2016
Happy Thursday friends! I've rescheduled this post three times now so I'm just going to go ahead and post it! And since I spent 4 hours, yes you read that correctly 4 HOURS, at the salon last night I didn't have time to write anything else. You'd think after spending 4 hours at a salon you'd be doing a drastic change, right? Nope. I made the mistake of letting the stylist do whatever she wanted because I thought she'd have fun with it. No joke, 4 hours and $250 later I came out looking almost exactly like I did when I went in. I have maybe 5-6 very subtle highlights and no cut. At least she covered my grays at the top though! But yeah, to say that was the worst salon experience ever would be an understatement. I'm not one to complain so I just left after she was done but my hair desperately needs to be trimmed and I can't bring myself to spend another ridiculous amount somewhere else to get it done. Not to mention I'd really like to have my hair actual balayage instead of just a few barely lighter streaks. And she was doing a very time consuming thing to another person's hair while doing mine so I literally sat there with my hair wet, no product, no setting time, nada for 45 mins before she came back to check on me. So here's my PSA - NEVER tell a stylist to just do what she wants because she will do as little as possible and then charge you like she did a complete makeover.
Ok now on to the post... I'm having serious withdrawals of the beach and island life. I know I live close enough to the beach but I don't get there very often so I took full advantage of being barefoot on the beach as much as I could while we were in Islamorada. Hence why I have no shoes on in this post! There's something calming about feeling the sand beneath your feet, even if the sand is pretty packed down like it was at our beach. Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels that way!
I wore this outfit out to dinner our last night out in Islamorada and it was the perfect casual outfit for dinner on the beach watching the sunset. Even though the sleeves are a bit longer on this shirt it's actually a super lightweight material and is very breathable so I never felt overly hot even before the sun went down. I love that the pattern in the fabric does a pretty good job of hiding wrinkles since I didn't have an iron with me and it had been shoved in my weekend bag for 3 days before I wore it. I paired it with a pair of simple destroyed denim shorts and my favorite tassel necklace I got last year and still wear on repeat. Everything else I kept pretty simple. In case you're wondering, yes I did wear shoes to go out to eat but I'm not going to lie, since we were on the beach I did end up taking them off and kept my toes nice and sandy!

NEW POST: WITH GUERLAIN IN MARRAKECH
Love that shirt!! It looks so comfy for summer!!
ReplyDeleteI would have been PISSED if I was charged $250 for a few highlights. That's ridiculous!! You should have asked her if she could cut it shorter (I hate being "annoying" but when you're paying that much, I'm ok with being annoying haha). Maybe you could call back and say when you got home you realized it wasn't as short as you'd hoped and see if you can come in for a trim?
ReplyDeleteLove this look!
Super fabulous look, lady! Everything that is beachy and boho!
ReplyDeleteUgh that is so not a fun salon experience, crazy they didn't even trim it after color, I thought that was a MUST! Maybe you could call another salon and plead your 'i just need a trim' case to get a cheaper price?
How frustrating for you hair!! And she didn’t even trim it for you?! Love your easy summer look and that off the shoulder top!
ReplyDeleteWhaaat? I can't believe for that much money and amount of time you can't even notice a big difference :( I guess on the somewhat bright side at least she didn't ruin your hair? I love this outfit- I actually have a similar version of that shirt, it's actually one the caused a huge fiasco at LOFT, haha.
ReplyDeleteOMG your hair... I would be sooo pissed. I was at the salon for 3 hours last night but luckily my sister is my stylist so it was FREE and I can boss her around ;) but seriously, that is SO frustrating!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a super cute outfit on you! You are rocking the off the shoulder trend!

Lovely boho look, so chic with the off shoulder! Xx

I love this entire outfit. So chic and perfect for Summer. Have a wonderful rest of your week!
ReplyDeleteLove this look on you! What a shame about the hair! I stopped going to stylists who do two people at once! I had a similar issue! I hope you get your hair cut. Maybe you could call her and tell her that you're disappointed and see if she'll fix it? xo, Champagne&Suburbs
ReplyDeleteWhat a great look for the beach! I know what you mean about the toes in the sand... it's been far too long since I've been to the beach and the first thing I'm doing is going straight down to walk barefoot along the beach/dip my toes in the water.
ReplyDeleteI CRINGE hearing bad salon stories since I'm in the industry. Our salon allows you to come back within two weeks if it's something you didn't like. I hope they do something for you, that price is outrageous! On another note...I LOVE this outfit and you look fab as always!
ReplyDeleteUgh! I spent a ton of money one time to fix a mistake that another salon made! Which is why I hate going to them, they're so overpriced! I used to go regularly to one, but the lady I loved no longer works there! Hope you get it fixed. Your outfit looks great too! Also looks like a great outift to walk in all day as well

That's just crazy about your hair!! Memo to self: I will go into every stylist appointment with a plan from now on! I love the necklace you're wearing but also the one you linked to. Adding it to my wish list ;)

So sorry about your hair appointment - that's awful! Depending on where you are in FL - my bff is an AMAZING hairstylist in the Cocoa Beach area. She specializes in balayage - check out her insta (@hairb0rn) if you're interested!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit - such a perfect summer casual look!

Obsessed with this look, off the shoulder for the win! But man alive I'm so sorry you had such a bad experience last night, how frustrating! You paid a lot of money, and you should be able to go back within the next week for her to fix it to your liking. It's hard to ask for what we deserve sometimes, but you should at least get your cut and the color you were looking for with that price *hugs*. Hope she can fix it for you <3
ReplyDeleteGreen Fashionista
Hold the phone! $250 and she didn't even cut it?!? What?!? That's seriously insane!!! I need to get my hair done so bad too but I hate how much they charge now! On a better note love this top!! So cute with the cut offs!

This top is gorgeous, and I love the necklace with it! And your salon experience sounds horrible...it is so hard to find a good stylist!
ReplyDeleteLove the top + cutoffs, lady- and I"m so sorry to hear about your hair. UGH. Finding a good stylist is really tough- I actually just switched stylists after several not-so-stellar appointments. HAIR IS IMPORTANT. It's so difficult to hide a cut/color you don't like! Sending you good hair vibes. :)

I told my hairdresser to do whatever she thought way back when I was in like 5th grade. To say it was traumatic is an understatement! Love your look and totally agree - life just seems better with sand under your toes.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sad about your awful salon experience! I can't believe that price for just a few highlights! Maybe that price is to cover the wine that I saw they gave you on your snaps!

Wow, that sucks... looking the same as before is always better than botching your hair....
ReplyDeleteYour top is so cute, and I loooove those denim shorts!

Well you know I already think you're hair looks great - sucks that you spent so much of your time and money there, but for a trim, what I always do is check out gilt, living social or groupon for salons near me and go there. Always a great price too!! I love your flash tattoo - so fun for vacay! I legit saw a kid with a fake tattoo on his neck...he was like 4 and I was appalled...liked WHY?
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are absolutely lovely! You should go to my hair girl. She's actually more towards Lakeland so it wouldn't be that far of a drive from you!
ReplyDeleteLove, love these pictures and your outfit and so sorry about your horrible salon experience :(
ReplyDeleteThat sucks about your time at the salon last night! If she couldn't spend the time doing your hair then she shouldn't have even taken the appointment! On a lighter note, that outfit is so cute, and perfect for the beach! I love your tassel necklace!
ReplyDeleteThis look is so pretty! And I am with you... no shoes no problem, especially at the beach!

The scenery in these photos is just gorgeous... as is the look!
ReplyDeleteSeriously...$250 and no cut, at least a trim would have been nice...but I probably would have been like you and just paid and left. I hate complaining to people...but wow, I would be so mad. I'm sorry you had to go thru that...
ReplyDeleteAnd the scenery in the pictures is phenomenal and you look radiant!

GIRL. I would have not paid. Or, at the least, I'd go back in there and have her fix it (if you can trust her). This happened to me a few years ago - the stylist I was using just completely ignored me as he was fighting with his boyfriend. And, he turned my hair orange. ORANGE! I left there because, like you, I'd been there for hours, but my boss told me I couldn't come back to work until my hair was fixed! ;) So I had to make him fix it. Sorry for the novel but I have been there and we spend too much money for it not to be right!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your terrible salon experience! That is just the worst. It happened to me when I first moved to DC and I was SO upset!! Especially when you pay that amount of money. On a happier note, I'm obsessed with this beachy boho look! I love the off the shoulder top and the fun tassel necklace! Hope you have a great weekend!

You seriously look like a summer dream! Absolutely gorgeous look girly! Love that off-the-shoulder top!
ReplyDeletewww.rosyoutlookblog.com
girl, let me give you a hug right now bc i am sorry that happened to you. that is ridiculous. and to charge that much for so little? dang! Mine takes about 3 but I'm only sitting there processing, not just sitting there with wet hair like you were. That sucks!
ReplyDeleteBut, this outfit is great and has me missing the beach!!! Here's to a good weekend with a good drink or two.
I love everything about this look! The top is so cute and always yes to bare feet on the sand. What a terrible salon experience! You should say something because it's not right to pay that much and not get anything!!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the hair stylist. I have had that happen to me as well and it was horrible. I feel your pain. You totally should say something. I didn't and have regretted since. Now, I saw exactly what I want and if I don't like it, I speak up. It's too expensive not to.
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are STUNNING. PS, I'd send the salon a link to this post. I'm the same way and hate complaining and confrontation, but that is way too much money to not even get a trim.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh that's terrible! But you look gorgeous! Love this look.

Such a cute summer outfit on a gorgeous girl :-) Hairdressers have done that to me before and it's sooo not acceptable to keep you there for so long and then you walkway not feeling not much of a difference after spending a pretty penny. Where did you go?
ReplyDeleteI'm SO mad for you about that hair salon experience!! Four hours for nothing? Sheesh!! I love the top! It's sold out at loft though :-(
ReplyDeleteThis is the perfect beach outfit, you look great!
