Weekending
12/19/2016
Happy Monday before Christmas friends! Holy cow, can you believe there is less than a week until Christmas? I am pleased to finally update you that I have now finished all my shopping, presents are wrapped and on their way to their appropriate final destinations. If you can't tell, I'm feeling pretty accomplished this morning. But enough with my accomplishments, let's talk about our weekends. Did any one do anything fun?
Friday I took off for my last vacation day of the year and went over to Busch Gardens for the day. We had season passes but had barely used them so we decided we'd get one more trip in before the end of the year and if you follow me on Snapchat {pamelanicole84} and Instagram, you saw that it was a good day until we were right about to leave. We decided to check out one more roller coaster before grabbing a drink, watching the sunset over the Serengeti and then heading back to Orlando. We were deciding between Sheikra and Falcon's Fury but Sheikra is our favorite so we decided to do it one more time. We hopped on board on the second row of the second car and started our way up the 200 foot climb. To make a long story short I'll just jump ahead but feel free to ask if you want to hear the whole story, after being stuck near the bottom of the climb for about 20 mins we finally made it to the top where we got stuck again. 200 feet up, on a floor-less rollercoaster, we were stuck for 2 hours until they came to rescue us. It was light when we started and dark when we finally made it down. The rescue involved taking groups of 4 people at a time, placing them into a harness that they hook to the rollercoaster, removing us from the safety harness on the ride and then pulling us up so we're "perched" on the edge of the seat and moving from seat to seat until we're safely in a cherry picker type device that takes us down to the bottom. Here is a video of the same rescue that happened exactly where we were back in May but theirs was during the daylight and ours happened at night. Despite being stuck for 2 hours, I refused to take out my cellphone until we were safely in the cherry picker so I don't have any videos or pictures from being stuck (and I'm not even going to lie, I was shaking pretty badly while we were stuck and I started crying pretty hard when they had to remove me from the safety harness, so having my phone out was the last thing even on my mind). Needless to say, after our rescue we were ready to get home and I won't be getting back on Sheikra any time soon. Luckily our season passes are up this month and while we thought about renewing them for next year, I think we might opt for Universal instead. You'd think after being stuck for 2 hours Busch Gardens would want to take care of their guests but apparently not. The most we got was an apology and a free bottle of water. Us and the couple sitting next to us actually had to ask for something else and the most we got for our "troubles" was $10 each in "Busch Bucks" to spend in the park that day.Not exactly the best customer service for basically ruining our day but hey, I understand the "you get what you pay for mentality" and Busch Gardens is definitely the cheapest theme park in the area.
To keep you from having to read a novel, I'll speed through the rest of my weekend, I promise! Saturday was UCF Bowl Game day! We went from 0-12 to bowl eligible in one season so we were actually super happy to find out that not only were we going to a bowl game, but we were going to a bowl game here in town! It might not have been the best bowl but I'll take it.

What a fun weekend! I can't believe I don't follow you on snapchat yet, heading over to follow you now :) Have a great week! Can't believe Christmas is so close :0
ReplyDeleteI honestly cant believe that you guys went through that ordeal and that something similar happened in MAY....you would think they would fix the problem whatever it may be! I'm so thankful that you are safe and that you had a fun rest of the weekend! Also, how cool that you guys didn't have to travel far for the bowl game...that's awesome! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

DeleteOMG 2 Hours! That's insane and awful!!! They need to have a better response time than that, especially if it has happened more than once. That stinks it was your last ride. Glad you are ok and I wouldn't have taken my phone out either for fear I would drop it!

OH MY GOODNESS!! I can't believe you got stuck up there and it took 2 hours to get down. I would have been terrified and livid at the same time. Well I'm happy you made it back down safely but sheesh. I would need a beer or 5 after that! lol

I'm so sorry that happened to you guys! I can't even begin to imagine how scary that would be, and just hearing you talk about it freaked me out! I'm so glad you were able to enjoy the rest of your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI saw that on your snap and was thinking you must've been stuck! That is so scary! I love roller coasters but that is always in my head when we start the trek up. So glad you are safe!

OH MY GOSH! I cannot believe that happened to you! Last summer I was really stressed about riding this one ride at an amusement park and I literally told myself, "Alissa, stop being stupid, millions of people ride this and nothing ever happens." AND THE THE NEXT GROUP OF RIDERS WAS STUCK AT THE TOP FOR AN HOUR! OMG! I cannot believe that happened to you too!

Holy crap that is so scary! I haven't been on that ride in years and now I know why! Glad to hear you guys are okay!
ReplyDeleteOmg! I was terrified just reading this. You poor thing. I'm so scared of heights that I can't do roller coasters, but especially now! Glad the rest of the weekend was fun and that you're safe!
ReplyDeleteOh. My. Gosh. I would have been totally freaking out! I'm not a huge fan of rollercoasters to begin with, but being stuck up there for two hours and in the dark?! That's just insane! Glad you guys are ok!!

ReplyDeleteI cannot believe that you were stuck on a roller coaster- I'm so glad that you are OK but how scary!! I feel like that only happens in the movies. You definitely needed a fun bowl game and drinks after that!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness that sounds so scary!! I'm glad you're okay though- did they throw in any free passes or anything??

Ugh- SO scary!! I was stuck on a ride once at Cedar Point, but only for about 45 minutes and thankfully it wasn't at the highest point or anything. I would have been freaking out.
ReplyDeleteI still can't believe that you were stuck on the roller coaster for that long, that it was floorless, and that they had to rescue you in that way! I'm pretty sure that I would have been freaking out too! And the fact that they didn't compensate you in any way is ridiculous too! I'm glad that you're safe though and that you still managed to have a good time during the rest of the weekend!
ReplyDeleteWoah, that's a long time to be stuck on a roller coaster. I would have been freaking out! Granted, I don't really do roller coasters since I'm terrified of heights, but still! That's got to have been scary and how awful the customer service wasn't all that great.

Pretty sure that I would never get on another roller coaster after that ordeal! Hope you got a good, strong drink back at home after that crazy end to your day!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe its Christmas son Sunday!! Where did this year go?!

Kudos and congrats for wrapping all of the presents!! I'm still at team none over here, but they've been purchased!! I haven't been to BG in years, so I can only imagine how fun that is!!
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine getting stuck on a ride like that! It's been years since I've been on a coaster and I used to love it, but feel like the older I get, the less my nerves can handle it. Glad you are all ok!
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOSH! I'm so glad you're okay!! I cannot believe that they didn't compensate you in any way at all..that is ridiculous. I definitely recommend universal passes-so much fun!
ReplyDeletewhat a fun adventure! looks like a great time!

OMG, I am completely freaking out about that happening to you! I'm so sorry you had to go through that and what crap customer service! You should report them to the BBB!
ReplyDeleteImpressed (and jealous!) that you are done with your shopping! I just have a few more things to get but man I wish I was done! Merry Christmas lady!
ReplyDeleteOh MY GOSH!! I'd have been freaking out too. We are actually going to BG on Monday - we have family in town, and lots of kiddos coming and so we're going for ChristmasTown, but I think I'll be staying away from the rides - seriously, I'd have been a mess too. I am glad you're okay!
