Happy Monday and my first post of 2018 friends! I decided to take a bit of a social media break last week and set some goals, relax a bit and spend some time with my sweet pup before fully jumping into blogging for the new year. I have a bunch of posts lined up that I never got to in December but I still wanted to share with you so bare with me and I promise I'll start talking about my plans for 2018 soon! For example, today I really wanted to share with you my favorite brewery from my trip to Savannah last month, Moon River Brewing. 

You guys all know I love visiting breweries and trying different local beers so when my friend told me about Moon River and that it's supposed to be haunted, I knew it had to be a stop on my quick weekend to Savannah. While Moon River hasn't been open very long, the building they are located in was built in 1821 and was actually the first hotel in Savannah. In 1979 Hurricane David blew the roof off the structure (which was being used as an office supply store at the time) and it remained abandoned until 1995 when it was renovated to a brewpub. 

In 1999 Moon River Brewing officially opened to the public and they've since earned numerous awards for the beers they've brewed. The inside features a full restaurant and bar (for all my non beer drinking friends, Moon River has wine and a full liquor bar) as well as the brewing facility and the outside patio is a beer garden perfect for relaxing under the warm Savannah sun. 

We ended up stopping by to watch the UCF Conference Championship game against Memphis so we sat at the bar and enjoyed a few of their local beers and some wings. Apparently they have amazing fried green tomatoes but since I'm not a tomato fan, I passed on those but if you are a fan, I highly recommend trying them. 

One of the main things Moon River Brewing is known for is it being one of the most haunted locations in Savannah. As a regular stop on many of the ghost tours of Savannah, Moon River has been featured on The Travel Channel, Ghost Hunters and many more so if you're looking for a paranormal experience, Moon River should definitely be a stop on your list. I can honestly say, we didn't experience any ghosts while we were there but you can hear plenty of spooky stories from the staff there!

Happy humpday babes! This has been a whirlwind week for me already. I apologize for my absence on Monday, if you follow me on Instagram, you might have noticed I took a quick little weekend trip up to Savannah. Don't worry, that full recap will be coming soon and I can honestly say that I will definitely be making other trips to Savannah soon! It was SO nice to get to experience some fall weather since we've still been mostly in the 80's here in Florida. 

Cooler weather meant I could FINALLY break out these over the knee boots I scooped up a few weeks ago on a major score at Nordstrom Rack. Like most every girl, I had been wanting the Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots for years now but just couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on spending that much on them. When I saw them at Nordstrom Rack DEEPLY discounted I actually thought I was going to pass out but of course I scooped them up and have been dying to wear them ever since so when I saw temperatures in the 50's in Savannah I knew it was the perfect chance. I ended up wearing this outfit out for rooftop drinks before heading out to dinner. As you can tell, it was pretty windy and cloudy out, so I was a bit worried about being cold but these boots are well lined so they were actually incredibly warm and this sweater is definitely one of my favs currently. I was skeptical when I bought it since it's only $20 but it's even thicker than some of my Express sweaters that were considerably more. This was definitely one of my favorite outfits I wore out this weekend and I will be repeating it again as soon as it's cool enough down here!

I'll probably be radio silent the rest of the week. Novie has another chemo appointment tomorrow and we finally get the scan to find out if it's working or not so keep your fingers crossed for us tomorrow and I'll keep everyone updated! Hope everyone has a fantastic rest of the week!

Oh Monday. Not again. Didn't you get the memo I wasn't ready for you yet? Oh well. I guess that's the thing with time, it never really does ever work in your favor, does it? Speaking of how quickly time goes, I had a chance to spend a few very quick days in my former hometown two weeks ago and while I was there I got a chance to check out some of the local breweries. I know a lot of my readers aren't really beer drinkers but being in the industry I'm in I've definitely really learned to appreciate the art of craft beer so I love getting to check out different place's local breweries. Since I moved away from Cincinnati before I was able to drink, I never got to check them out then so it was fun going back and checking them out now.
The brewery district in Cincinnati is pretty unique in the fact it dates all the way back to 1895 in an area called Over-The-Rhine, or OTR to locals. No, I didn't have a dyslexic moment, there were actually 38 different breweries in the district at the turn of the 19th century. Unfortunately prohibition in the 1920's brought an end to many of these breweries but recently with the craft beer boom, many of these buildings are becoming operational again. I'm a huge architectural fan so I found the history of these buildings to be extremely interesting but I'm sure you all are bored with the history lesson so let's get into the good stuff, shall we?
The first brewery I visited on my trip was Rhinegeist Brewery (which translates to Ghost of the Rhine/River) which is actually located in what used to be another local brewery's bottling plant, Moerlein Brewing. Moerlein owned the building in the late 1800's until prohibition when the plant had to shut down. The taproom is located on the top floor of the building and also has a small rooftop bar area. The taproom area is huge with lots of things to do like indoor cornhole, ping pong tables as well as other games. I only tried one beer, the Cougar Blonde Ale, but I was extremely intrigued by the Bubbles Pale Ale which was a  Rosé Ale made with apple, peach and cranberry. I mean, how amazing does that sound?

Happy Monday friends! Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! I got back fairly late last night so instead of doing a normal weekending post I'm going to do a bit of a photo dump of my trip down to West Palm Beach over the weekend. It was really nice to take a day off (my first of the year!) and have a nice little getaway that was close enough to home that we could drive but far enough away that it felt like a break. I know I just got back from Vegas but we only had one free night in Vegas so it never actually felt like a break. It definitely was far more interesting than I had planned but we had a blast, the weather was absolutely gorgeous and I think West Palm Beach might have stolen a bit of my heart. Years ago when I first moved to Florida, I envisioned palm tree lined roads every where, beaches and blue skies but in reality Orlando doesn't have that many palm trees, no beaches and while we do have plenty of blue skies, it never felt like the Florida I had imagined. WPB was definitely the Florida I always imagined. Ok, enough chit chat, let's jump into some photos!
