Sequins and Sea Breezes: e.l.f, e.l.f baby

e.l.f, e.l.f baby

4/06/2016

Happy Wednesday! Did anyone else ever play that weird Christmas elf bowling game where the elves sang "elf, elf baby" while you were lining up your shot? No? I didn't think so. I swear I'm not crazy though. Google it, I promise it's a real thing! Ok, enough of that. I recently received my latest e.l.f shipment and like always I was excited to tear into the package and see what I got. So far I've been incredibly impressed with almost everything I've gotten so it's like Christmas all over again getting to try out and play with everything.

elf sunkissed glow bronzer

First up, the e.l.f Sunkissed Glow Bronzer. At only $2 this is a great bronzer for highlighting but not so much contouring. It gives an overall nice, natural glow with that barely sunkissed look but doesn't do much for me in the contouring department. It's very similar to my natural skin tone so it gives me a very natural look but with a hint of shimmer.

elf smudge pot

Next up is the Smudge Pot Cream Eyeshadow in "Brownie Points". I'm a sucker for a good neutral eyeshadow so when I saw this color I knew it was going to be hit or miss. I love the creamy texture and how easily it goes on. The pigmentation is great and I just used my finger to apply. It's a bit darker than my normal every day shades but when applied with an eyeliner brush it makes a gorgeous creamy eyeliner that gives you a great everyday smokey eye without being too harsh.

elf runway ready lip palette

Ya'll know how much I love a good lipstick so I was super excited to see the Runway Ready Lip Palette in my set this month. This is a limited edition lip palette which contains 6 gorgeous, creamy, pigmented colors and a brush. The color to the far left has been my every day go-to but the other colors are so fun to switch it up. I still haven't worn the color far to the right out but it's actually lighter on than it looks in the picture. It's not the highest quality lipstick but if you're looking for some fun colors to play with, for $8 you can't go wrong!

elf intense eyeliner

I really really wanted to love the Intense Ink Eyeliner but MAC has spoiled me when it comes to eyeliner. The pen is really easy to use and the color comes out super dark but on someone like me with a very active waterline, it tends to rub off a bit. I actually drew on my hand when I first got it just to see how the lines came out and the color but I noticed after I looked down at my hand about 15 mins later (yes, I was lazy and didn't wash it off right away... it's not my fault Vanderpump Rules was on) the color had gone from a solid line and spread into my little fine lines on my hand.

I've expressed my love for e.l.f brushes many times now and this one is no exception. The Flawless Face Brush is a little more expensive than some of their other brushes but well worth it. I love that it's versatile enough to be used for different applications and not too large like a kabuki brush. I have not used it to apply any liquids or creams but it does a great job of blending powders. My only complaint with the e.l.f brushes is that I have a problem with the metal part that holds the actual brush separating from the wood handle. Does anyone else have this issue?

And there you have it! Has anyone else tried any of these e.l.f products? If so, what are your thoughts?

  7. I love elf brushes but have noticed that problem with the metal part. I started noticing it after I cleaned my brush for the first time so I wonder if I let water get somewhere it shouldn't. I need to try that smudge pot!

  10. that lip set is super fun especially for the price! have you blended any of them together? and that's a bummer about the liner but at the end of the day it's so hard to find a good one that lasts! and you're so right with the brushes - they have some awesome ones!

  11. You cannot beat ELF's prices that's for sure and most of their stuff is pretty good! I agree though, it's hard for an eyeliner to live up to MAC's standards!!

  19. I bought that brush a while ago, and I agree that it's great for blending powders, but the wood/metal part does the same thing to me! Kind of frustrating. I'm going to check out those cream eyeshadow pots - the color is so pretty!

  20. I love elf considering how cheap the products are. I actually do have this bronzer and I think it works pretty well, but it's a little too shimmery for my liking. I've never tried the brushes, but now this gives me an excuse to make a Target run!

  26. That lipstick palette looks like so much fun! Like you said, at that price point it's hard not to want to play with those fun colors even if they're not the greatest quality.

  27. I can't live without bronzer and natural looking is key! Plus $2 is a steal. The colors in the lip palette look very pretty. I'm not a fan of brown lipsticks but you said it looks much lighter so that's good!

  29. I've definitely been happy with the e.l.f. products I've tried and their brushes are great (strategically selling them at the Old Navy checkout line sold me!). Do you use a liner on your bottom lids? If so, which one? I want to switch it up and love how you do your eyes.

  30. I picked up a bunch of their products at Target today. They can be so hit or miss, but it never bothers me because the prices are so good. I actually picked up one of their liquid liners, so we will see how well that works!
