Sequins and Sea Breezes: holiday

Holiday Questionnaire

12/22/2015

Happy Tuesday loves! Yesterday was hectic so I didn't get to write the post I had originally planned but then I remembered this fun questionnaire Jennifer did so I figured that'd be a fun post to do before Christmas! I literally left my house yesterday morning at 6:30 am and didn't get home until 7:30 pm then I had to make dinner and make rice krispie treats for my work Christmas thing so needless to say, it was a LONG day! So on that note... here we go:

A holiday tradition: I honestly don't really have any holiday traditions. For as long as I can remember my dad would make sausage balls around the holidays so I've kind of adopted that tradition. I actually stressed out over the weekend when I realized I hadn't made them yet so I ran out, got everything and made them Sunday!

What you'd like to see Santa bring you most this year: There's not much on my wish list this year that I can't live without! I got to see my parents before the holidays so that was nice and definitely would have been something at the top of my wish list.

What's your go-to stocking stuffer: Probably lip balm. I have an obsession with the stuff and I know it's pretty helpful during the cool, dry winter season.

Who is hardest to shop for during the holidays: Hmm... I think it depends on the year. I do my best to pick up on clues and mentions throughout the year for gift ideas so it depends on who gave me the least to go on throughout the year. But usually guys.

Favorite winter accessory: We don't get much of a winter down here so I'd have to say boots or scarves! I love getting to break out my boots and booties. I'm determined to get a cute beanie this year and then go some place cold so I can wear it. Or just rock it on a 60 degree day here LOL

Christmas tree lights; colored or all white?: All white, all the way. My entire tree is decorated in gold and silver ornaments with all white lights.

Favorite holiday cocktail: Umm... probably cider. Or champs of course. But that's all year around!

Favorite holiday food: My sausage balls. Hands down.
Do you have a good white elephant gift idea?: Probably something funny. Who doesn't like a good gag gift, right?

Do you have a funny picture of you with Santa as a kid?: Nope, can't say that I do!

Do you like candy canes?: YES! I love mint in general. But like Jenn I also love ribbon candy during the holidays.

Hot chocolate; marshmallows or no?: Wait. What's the point of hot chocolate without the marshmallows? Ok, I guess whipped cream works too but bring on the marshmallows!

Favorite holiday song: Hmm... probably All I Want For Christmas but there are a ton of great ones! I love Where Are You Christmas too.

Favorite holiday movie: How the Grinch Stole Christmas

A funny holiday story:

Have you ever been on a sleigh ride?: No :( But I've ridden on an elephant. I know, it's not the same.

A fun holiday memory: The Osborne Lights are always my favorite holiday memory. I've been going to Disney to see those lights for years. I can't believe they're getting rid of them.

Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

December Birchbox Review

12/24/2013

It's that time of the month again! No, not that time, I'm talking about Birchbox time! I always love getting my Birchbox and seeing what kind of goodies they sent out this month. I was especially excited for the December one since I figured they'd have some fun things I could add to my Christmas wish list. While I was disappointed I wasn't overwhelmed with excitement either. Here's my review on the products in this month's box!
1. Benefit Benetint - I'm already a fan of most things by Benefit including their High Beam Highlighter. I've been wanting to try the Benetint for awhile but I've read mixed reviews on it so I was most excited to get this trial. I definitely had the same mixed reviews that most people had. I loved it as a cheek stain, it blended easily (with my fingers) and produced a subtle yet noticeable flush to my cheeks. When I applied it to my lips as the lip stain I wasn't quite as satisfied. I found it a bit hard to get on evenly so the color wasn't consistent. I'd definitely recommend it though, it's the perfect compliment to that barely there make-up trend. 2. Manna Kadar Cosmetics Sheer Glo Shimmer Lotion - Mixed with foundation this highlighter gives you a nice dewy glow all over or just a dab on each cheek gives you a more noticeable shimmer. It goes on smooth and sheer so it's not too shimmery for every day wear but definitely has enough of a glow to be great for holiday parties. I'm not sure I see a real difference between this highlighter and my normal highlighter though so I'll probably just stick with my normal one in the future. 3. Number 4 Non Aerosol Hairspray - Ok, here goes my "you can't be serious" girl moment. I don't really like hairspray. Scratch that. I hate hairspray. I always complain about how my hair refuses to hold a curl but in it's defense, I pretty much always refuse to use hairspray. With that being said, this actually wasn't a horrible hairspray. I hate the heavy, sticky feeling most hairsprays give you, but the Number 4 hairspray is light and flexible. It doesn't give you the "helmet hair" feeling and it actually has a fairly pleasant scent. I probably still won't use hairspray on a regular basis but this one is definitely a better choice for me. 4. Shea Terra Organics East African Shea Butter - This was actually a great trial to receive since I usually get dry skin during the "winter" (it's hard to actually consider it winter when it's still 85 degrees out). I loved how silky and moisturizing this way however I wasn't really a fan of the scent. It was a bit too "perfume-y" for me but definitely did it's job of making your skin soft and smooth. Supposedly it doubles as an eye cream but I haven't tried that yet as my skin is really sensitive. 5. bliss that's incredi-'peel'! - This actually comes as a wash and "peel" pad but I only received the sample of the pad. After one use I can definitely say I noticed a difference in how soft my skin felt. It did a good job of exfoliating without over-irritating. It was gentle enough to feel like I could use it several times a week. I love that bliss creates "spa-worthy" products you can use at home that seem to be on a similar level to what you would get if you went to the spa.

Holiday Gift Guide - Under $50

12/01/2013

Wow! Can you believe it's December already? Where did this year go? With Christmas being just right around the corner (24 days away to be exact!) I figured I'd do a post on great gift ideas for under $50. These are just a few ideas (I could have made a list a mile long!) but the great thing about these items is that there's something for almost every girl.

1. The thing that I love about these candles is not only do they smell amazing but they sound like a real fire from a fire place when they burn! They're great for cozy nights in when you wish you had a fireplace to relax by - Crackle Burn Candles by WoodWick

2. Monograms and initials are still very in right now so this awesome initial necklace is the perfect addition to any outfit! I love that you can get it in gold, rose gold or silver and they're small enough to be great for every day wear and layering. You can even mix and match and get your initial and someone elses! - Alpha Initial Necklace by Bauble Bar

3. What's not to love about fall/winter nail polish colors? The holiday editions usually include a few polishes with glitter for that extra sparkle as well as gorgeous jewel tones that look great on any skin tone. - Winter 2013 Collection from Essie

4. Kate Spade can do no wrong in my book. She always manages to have classy and timeless pieces. This iPhone 5 case is the perfect example. I may be partial because it's black and gold (and sparkly) but all of her cases are gorgeous! - Gold and Black Jubilee iPhone 5 case by Kate Spade

5. Midi rings are super popular right now. I love the simplicity of the thin chevron rings but they add just enough pop to really make a statement. Chevron Midi Rings from Etsy

6. 'Tis the season to enjoy a nice long and hot bubble bath! With the chilly weather outside nothing is better than coming in and taking a nice hot bubble bath by candle light with a glass of wine. I love the Philosophy bubble bath collection. They smell amazing and leave your skin feeling silky smooth. - Snow Angel Bubble Bath by Philosophy

7. These have become my new staple when I leave the house. With my thin, fine hair I get creases every time I put my hair up and since I go to the gym almost every day it happens a lot. When you're going straight home it's no big deal but if you want to put your hair down after it's so annoying to have a huge dent in it. These hair ties are awesome! Not only are they gentle on my hair, they don't crease! -No Crease Hair Ties from Anthropologie

8. I love scarfs for any time of the year but with it being fall scarfs are more of a necessity than a fashion accessory. The good part is, with these beautiful patterned scarfs they can be both! - Patterned Infinity Scarf from Express

9. This is the perfect all in one makeup product for fall and winter. It highlights, brightens, warms and adds color all in one. And even better? It's perfect for both your face and lips (and collarbone if you're looking for a little something extra) so if you're in a rush it makes doing your makeup easy! - The Multiple by NARS

10. I have a mini obsession with Tumbler cups. I have my UCF one with me almost always (as you can imagine I do the dishes a lot!). This adorable state Tumbler is the perfect addition to any girl's Tumbler collection. It's perfect for holiday travel! - Home Sweet Home Tumbler from Elle & K Boutique
