Sequins and Sea Breezes: A Little Lacy

A Little Lacy

8/19/2014

I'll admit it.... up until recently I wasn't a huge fan of lace. I always felt like lace was young and feminine and made me look like a little kid but I've definitely come around. Lace (if done the right way) can be sexy and romantic and feminine in a grown up way, not like wearing your grandmother's table cloth. I also feel that lace must be in the right color in order for it to look more mature and less young or "cheap". Not saying you can't rock a yellow lace dress or anything but I definitely feel like there's something about lace in off white, black and taupe that really makes it more romantic.

When I found this dress I was a bit hesitant because it is a cheap lace dress and sometimes cheap lace looks... well cheap. I decided to try it on and see what it looked like and while I wasn't completely in love with it I definitely liked it enough to get it, especially for the price! I love the midi look and the color! I also love that it looks cute with a pair of sandals and a belt but it also looks awesome with a pair of ankle booties and a jean jacket making it a perfect transition from summer to fall! It'd also be super cute with a leather jacket to add a bit of edge to it which is always a fun look! What do you think of lace? Are you a fan or do you think it should be left to grandma's curtains? ;)

  15. I agree lace can be a hit or miss but this dress looks great on your and for $13 you got a steal! I like how the fabric cuts out before the lace at the bottom so it's more breathable, especially in FL heat.

  46. i agree lace can be tacky if not worn right but i strongly think it's about how you style it.. you can take anything "cheap" and make it look a million bucks just by the way you style it and girl, you got it right! that dress does not look $13! =)
