#PlayBeautifully
10/27/2015Happy Tuesday loves! Hope everyone's week is off to a wonderful start! Can you believe it's the last week of October? I can't either. I swear I blinked and this month was over. I'm not at all ready for Christmas so I wouldn't be sad if the time decided to slow down just a little bit. But one of the things I love about fall and the holiday season is getting to play with new makeup looks! There's no better time to experiment with a vampy lip or a bold eye than during the holidays!
e.l.f. cosmetics has been coming out with so many amazing products lately, they make it easy to try something new to switch up your look without breaking the bank! I've been using their brushes for years now and I love them so when they reached out to me asking me if I wanted to try out some of their products for their #playbeautifully campaign I was more than happy to oblige!
First up is the Everyday Smokey Eyeshadow Palette. You all know I love my neutral eye shadows for every day and you can't beat a good smokey eye for going out. This palette has colors that are similar to the Naked palette but I love the mix of metallics and mattes and the hues are perfect for a blended look.
Next is the e.l.f Studio Contour Brush. Like I already said, I love the e.l.f brushes so I wasn't surprised to find that this brush was perfect. It actually picks up and holds a lot more color than the brush I was previously using so I find myself needing less product using this brush. One of the things I love about the e.l.f. brushes are how soft they are. I have sensitive skin so using brushes with harsh bristles have a tendency to make my skin irritated and these don't.
The e.l.f. Studio Blush is next on my list. I've only ever used MAC blushes before so this was a new experience entirely for me. I was extremely surprised at how pigmented the blush was. I used as much as I usually do from my MAC blush and ended up looking like a clown! It's highly pigmented and has just the right amount of shimmer to give you a glow.
The Studio Moisturizing Lipstick was one of the products I was most excited about trying. You all know how much I love a good bold lip and this color was so perfect for fall! Like the lipstick claims, it's extremely moisturizing and it builds on itself. So if you're looking for more of a sheer just use once and then blot but if you're looking for a deep, bold coverage swipe on two or three layers and you have a much deeper coverage.
Finally we have the Studio Lip Exfoliator. I had been interested in trying a new lip exfoliator so this came at a great time. It's one of their best sellers so I was excited to give it a try and it always seems to be sold out at my local Target so I hadn't gotten a chance to pick it up in the past. I'm such a huge believer of exfoliating before putting on dark lipstick so this is such a lifesaver. I love that it comes in a lipstick shaped tube so you can keep it with you easily if you're planning on applying lipstick at the end of the day before going out after work. I haven't used it enough to say whether it's better than the other exfoliator I was using but I'm definitely going to continue to give it a shot!

I love trying out colors and products from ELF, because they don't break the bank if you don't like them and allow you multiple options. The palette is super pretty, definitely perfect for traveling and love the two lip colors. PERFECT for the fall trend! I'll have to check em out online!
ReplyDeleteWhat other exfoliator were you using?! I am so tired of flaky lips and I've tried Vaseline but still seem to struggle with it. Any help is appreciated!

So glad to hear you liked the exfoliator - that is one product that I always forget to pick up! I've used a few elf products, but never their makeup now I need to give it a try!! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteELF products are always a good time--and if it doesn't work out you don't feel THAT bad about it because they weren't expensive. Plus you can find their products at Target a lot of the time too!

ReplyDeleteI've always been a huge fan of their makeup brushes, but haven't tried many of their makeup products. That eyeshadow palette is gorgeous, and I need to try that blush <3

ELF makes the best bang for your buck products! They're always sold out of almost everything at my Target and Ulta and I think that speaks volumes!

I've been wanting to buy the Naked pallet for awhile, but love the one you have pictured above! Did you like the lip color, was it too dark?
ReplyDeleteLove that dark lip color and I've heard of that exfoliator- it's nice that you can apply it like a lipstick instead of with your finger. Trying out new makeup products is always fun!!

I have that exfoliating lipstick and I love it! Now I really want to try the eyeshadow palette--even though I love my naked!
ReplyDeleteGotta love elf products! I love that shade of lipstick, and I'm going to keep an eye out for that brush!
ReplyDeleteI love ELF products, but I've never used any of these. I have a couple brushes, a smaller eyeshadow palette, and the eyebrow kit. I'll have to check these out.

I really do like a lot of their products! At first I just bought Elf stuff because they were affordable, but then I was like okay these are really great! haha :)
ReplyDeleteGreat review, lady! I love a vampy lip- and dig that the Elf version is also hydrating; such a bummer when the lippie is too dry (especially when it's a bold color).

The eyeshadow palette has some gorgeous colors! I would use the colors on the left daily and for only $10?! That's a steal!

I definitely feel like I need to try the lip exfoliator and that lipstick! My lips always tend to peel when I wear lipstick if I don't exfoliate first, and that lip color looks perfect for fall! I also love the fact that you can build on the color.
ReplyDeleteLove the smokey eye palette so much!! Gorgeous colors!
ReplyDeleteThose lip products look perfect! I will have to check them out for sure. ELF does have some great stuff!
ReplyDeleteA lip exfoliator and moisturizing lipstick are two things I really need! I don't wear lipstick often, but when I do it gets dry and flaky and bleh. I'd probably wear it more often if the lipstick was moisturizing and I exfoliated beforehand!
ReplyDeletee.l.f. products are some of my staples in my beauty routine. I love their liquid eyeliner and that lip scrub exfoliator is such a life saver!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE e.l.f. products! My favorite blush brush is theirs and honestly I think they have a pretty good Orgasm dupe! I've never tried their lipsticks but now it's on my list! And I've wondered about the eyeshadow palette, too!
ReplyDeleteThis lip exfoliator looks so cool! I've been surprisingly pleased every time I use their blushes so I will have to try this pretty color out:)

ReplyDeleteI love love love e.l.f. products!! I can't wait to try out that eyeshadow palette and their lippys!
ReplyDeleteI came across this line at Meijer the other day but wasn't sure if they were good or not. Looks like I'll be going back to pick up the few items I fell in love with! The eye-shadow color palette is gorgeous!

I love the lipstick color! Love that it is moisturizing as well since that's always my biggest complaint about most lipsticks is chapped lips
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I love ELF, because their price point is SO GOOD! That being said, I've never really had good luck with their lipsticks :( How did you like this one?
