Perfectly Plaid
1/12/2016
Happy Tuesday dolls! Whew, yesterday was a busy one. I had 3 1/2 hours worth of meetings so I felt like I was barely able to get anything done. And tomorrow is going to be even worse, 4 1/2 hours of scheduled meetings tomorrow. The joys of the new year! Hopefully it won't be too bad. These are the last pictures from my visit out to New Mexico back in December and I'm a little bittersweet about it. While the pictures aren't the greatest; my mom did a great job with taking them, it's more that the lighting is so different from what I'm used to and for example, these pictures were taken while we were out on a several mile hike, I'm sad that I don't get to go back through the picture and reminisce. Plus it was so fun getting to do photos with a completely different backdrop from my norm!
I definitely wasn't trying to be overly fashionable with this outfit but it is a cute outfit for hiking and exploring like we did this day. My boyfriend flannel shirt has quickly become one of my favorite articles of clothing in my closet. To the point where I actually went out and bought two other colors of the same shirt! In an attempt to keep warm I layered with a hoodie then my favorite leather jacket and even rocked the Uggs (not the best hiking shoes but I worked with what I had!). You can probably tell these pictures were taken in two different areas, some in the canyon and some at Tent Rocks Monument. Let me tell you, it was SO windy in Tent Rocks, I thought I was going to get blown away! And silly me doesn't even own a pair of gloves so you'll notice my hands in my pockets a lot in these pictures. Just trying to keep from losing fingers... :) I've definitely learned that doing spur of the moment photo shoots is fun but don't always expect the elements to work nicely with you!
flannel: american eagle / jeans: american eagle / jacket: sophie & trey {old, similar here} / boots: uggs / sunglasses: ray-ban / necklaces: kendra scott and bauble bar

Fun hiking outfit, I can see why the shirt is a favorite. Love the background, so pretty and great job on the pictures, Mama.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with all the meetings, I feel you on the beginning of the year nonsense.
Totally doesn't matter about the lighting because the backdrop is amazing!! Love this laid back style for you - the jacket is so great!! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteI feel you on the meetings.. I had a 5 hour one yesterday and then had to work late. Is it Friday yet? Love the plaid on you!

Ugh so many meetings!!! I've had days like that and you're totally right, it just feels like you're getting more work to do and no time to get any of it done. Hope today goes quickly and the rest of the week is meeting-free!
ReplyDeleteLoving that plaid look! I have a shirt that has a plaid shirt built in under the sweater part and it's very similar to the pattern and color plaid you have here. I love it! :)
i can see why you bought more of them--this is a great flannel! and such a versatile piece, as you've styled it here. plaid will forever be a fave of mine!
ReplyDeleteSorry you have so many meetings! I'm really loving your plaid, so cute with that jacket!
ReplyDeleteA great flannel is always a good purchase! Love this easy look!
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of meetings! They do make the days fly by but it is hard to get anything done at the same time. Love the flannel, and the scenery is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteLoving that jacket on you! And still obsessing over the gorgeous backdrop in your NM pics! Hope your meetings fly by today, I'm in them until 1:00 today and will feel like I've got nothing done by the time I'm done. Cheers to all the coffee today <3

A good fitting flannel seems to be what I keep on reaching for lately and it's so great to layer up with for now the added cold weather we are having!
ReplyDeleteI love this layered look! And I totally agree that good lighting makes all the difference with pics- your mom did a great job!
ReplyDeleteboo to meetings!
ReplyDeletethis outfit is super cute, and what a gorgeous backdrop! sucks that it was so windy in places, i aaaaalways forget things like gloves when i really need them lol. that's hilarious that you don't own any but i mean, you don't really need them in FL!

If you are going to hike you might as well look fashionable doing it! Love a good flannel boyfriend shirt, if I could get away with wearing them everyday I totally would!
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit and what beautiful scenery!! I'm also wearing my flannel shirt today because it's freezing. :-) Since you live in FL, you don't need gloves either haha. Have a great day!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, it's so pretty there!!! I love boyfriend anything, especially plaid! And girl, I wish I looked like you hiking!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures look fabulous and I love that top!! Gorgeous backdrop. Sigh. Can we just travel instead of working this month?
ReplyDeleteYou might be the most stylish hiker ever!!! I went to Yosemite with my super fit brother and very pregnant sister-in-law in October and I was a hot mess! And I love the background and the lighting. Our country is so beautiful, and you did a great job capturing it! Make today work -Rachel, CubicleCouture
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit on you! Is there a specific type of jeans from AE that you recommend? I'm in the market and have heard good things.

Love this outfit and it would be perfect for a day like today in Florida. Uggs are so nice and warm! i need to get another pair already and a leather black jacket is always a cold weather staple to have in your closet (I have 2!).
ReplyDeleteOmg, you went hiking in this ensemble? Amazing! We hike and rock scramble and I would have come back with my clothes shredded. Uggs, at least your feet stayed warm. I have to give you credit.... leather, flannel & jeans may not be your most stylish or chicest moment but look at where you were for goodness sake. I think it's still a perfectly cute look. Not to mention the backdrop is incredible. So jealous!

ReplyDeleteThese pictures are gorgeous! You can never go wrong with a plaid shirt - they're so versatile!
ReplyDeleteI love your Uggs with the plaid shirt! And that's crazy that it got that cold that you had to wear multiple layers! It definitely gets a lot cooler when the wind starts to pick up though! And I'm glad I'm not the only one that buys the same shirt in multiple colors when I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love the jacket you paired with that shirt! And the backdrop is stunning!
ReplyDeleteBless you- I SO get those long meetings! I love these pics and think the background is amazing! Love the plaid!
ReplyDeleteThis scenery is gorgeous, oh my goodness!! A good flannel is my favorite winter item to have!
ReplyDeleteI think that's the best thing about this plaid look - it's not like you have to TRY to be fashionable. It's simple and looks good, too!
ReplyDeleteLove your jacket!! Dying for a leather jacket like that!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great plaid shirt and I love it paired with this jacket! Hope the meetings go well today!
