Sequins and Sea Breezes: Friday Five

Friday Five

1/02/2015

Happy Friday dolls! Ok, so technically it's the second blank page of a 365 page book but I loved this quote so much I had to share it! I can already feel that 2015 is going to be a good year! It's already starting off with a huge change for me, which I'll get into later. I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday break and got to enjoy spending time with their loved ones! Now it's time to link up with my bloggy love Amanda, for our Friday Favorites!

1. So a few weeks ago I hinted that I had some exciting news coming and here it is! As I've blogged about, I've had some up and downs in my life recently. Back in October I got laid off from my job. I have never been laid off or fired from a job in my life so this was pretty devastating for me, coupled with the fact my grandmother got diagnosed with cancer and my husband's grandmother died the same day I got let go I was not in a great place. Honestly, I wasn't overly happy at my job any way. The company hasn't made a profit and team morale was up and down like a roller coaster so it just made it difficult to look forward to going to work every day and if it wasn't for the friends I had made there I probably would have been looking seriously prior to being laid off. But enough with the back story... I am very excited to be starting a new journey in my life! I finally got a new job, which I start on Monday and I am also beyond ecstatic that my grandmother is currently cancer free and is on the mend!  Unfortunately my new job might mean I need to take a bit of a break from the blogging world (or I might not be as responsive) but I promise if I go MIA I will return once I get back into a regular routine!

  2. We're redoing our living room floors to this hardwood (no, that isn't my house... I wish!) and I can't wait! Our carpet is so cheap I'm so ready to get rid of it. I'm loving the rug in that picture too... I think I might need it when the floors are done!

3. I'm not redoing our stairs but this Pin makes me want to so I can get that stair runner! When we start looking for a new house I might need to make sure we have wood stairs so I can have an excuse to get it!

  4. I'm kind of in love with this faux leather shift dress. And you can't beat the price on it! I've been looking for a cute faux leather shift dress and I think this might be the winner!

5. Since I'm starting my new job on Monday (eek!!) I've been searching Pinterest for office decorating ideas. I love the gold accessories for sure but I also love the idea of having pretty flowers on my desk too! My office doesn't have the greatest view so flowers and pretty accessories is a great way to liven it up some!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! I'll be enjoying it while preparing everything for Monday!

  2. Congratulations on the new job and the wonderful news about your grandmother!!! What a happy way to start 2015! If you have to put the blog on the back burner for a bit, who cares? Concentrate on the big life stuff--we'll still be here when you're back :)
Love the wood floors (and I wish that was my house too haha)! MG and I are gonna be re-doing our basement (probably come spring time) because we have some heinous carpet there from the previous owners. Ive been perusing floors for months now and can't wait to pick it out and get it installed. P.S. this is what adult life has come to--getting excited about flooring and stair runners hahaha. Speaking of, I love the patterns stair runner. We got some installed on our stairs 2 months ago and it is incredible--we've gotten so many compliments on it. It's the perfect addition! :)
Hope you have a great Friday and good luck on the new job!!!!!

  20. Happy New Year girl! That's so exciting about your new job! I got fired once and it was awful. Even though I hated the job I was still so blindsided to be let go. It's like dating someone you're ehhhh about. Then if they break up with you its like wait.... you're breaking up with ME? Haha! Glad that things are looking up for you! Xo

I had some luck at Target with their Nate Berkus office line. I'm so happy that your grandmother is cancer free. Sounds like 2015 is already starting off on a great foot! 23. I'm sorry you had such a tough time, but BIG congrats on the new job and so happy to hear that your grandmother is beating cancer! Those are such great things!! I found a runner in light grey almost exactly like that brown run at a carpet store up here that I am trying to get! Target also has tons of cute gold desk accessories right now (scissors, tape dispenser, paperclips, etc.) that are screaming your name :)

  24. Girl you really started off this year right! I'm sorry to hear about all the tough times you endured but I'm very happy to hear all this good news! That one quote "what if I fall," that has been my saying for quite some time now. I stumbled upon it when I was going through an extremely rough patch, very similar to yours and it really helped lift my spirits. Funny how a little quote can do that.

  34. Congratulations on the new job!! That is so exciting.I got laid off 4 years ago and it came at the worst time in life. I went through a rough break up had to move out of our home that we shared and then I got laid off. It was awful but now I'm with a company that is shop much better and life is good again :) sometimes it's nice to have a little break too. Mine was only about 6 months long and looking back I kind of wished it was longer. That hardwood and the rug are beautiful.target has a similar rug for a party good price.
