Miami Chic
10/26/2016
Ok, so I know it's an unwritten fashion rule that wearing white after Labor Day is a no-no but let's be real. Those rules were made back in the day where you only wore black to funerals and women weren't supposed to wear jeans at all so I'm making it my rule that I'm going to rock white all year long. And let's be real, when you're in Miami it doesn't matter what time of year it is, it's always acceptable to wear white!
This dress was actually the last dress I wore out in Miami when I was there last month and I seriously don't remember the last time I got so many compliments on an outfit! I knew I had to wear at least one all white outfit while I was in South Beach since everything on South Beach is white, black and white or white and blue. I really wish I would have had more time in South Beach to explore and take more pictures of the gorgeous Art Deco architecture while I was there! I honestly never had a huge desire to visit South Beach before this work trip but now that I've been there I will definitely be going back... but mainly for the food. Ok, now back to the outfit! I am obsessed with the different cutouts on this dress giving it texture to the all white. I usually don't buy a lot of things from H&M due to the quality but this dress doesn't feel or look at all like something you would normally get at H&M. The material is much heavier and even the back zipper is stitched in different. I topped off my look with my Jeffrey Campbell wedges of course. I could seriously walk for miles in those shoes which is a good thing since I did! What do you think about wearing white after Labor Day?

LOVE this! And I agree, no white after labor day is an old-fashioned rule! I think it looks great in fall and winter!
ReplyDeleteForget that antiquated rule and the reason you should forget it is looking like this! Love the dress--you look gorgeous as always!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the dress on you - not only does it bring out your tan, but it's so flattering!! I love how your shoes totally match the cutouts too!! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

H&M can definitely be hit or miss with the fit and quality of things, but that dress is amazing!
ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous are you?! I'm with you on white all year long, especially in Miami. These are such pretty photos of you!

You look gorgeous!! That dress was made for you. It fits you perfectly!!
ReplyDeleteYou look incredible! Such a good find!
ReplyDeleteI love your white dress and wedge sandals. I don't believe in this no white after labor day rule. So outdated. I wore my little white summer dresses 2x last week in NYC because it was so warm with my strappy high heel sandals and flat sandals. White jeans I wear anytime in fall or winter as long as there is no rain or snow on the ground. Weather controls my wardrobe not Labor Day.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Definitely still love white after Labor Day. And I probably need that dress!

ReplyDeleteThat is seriously the perfect outfit for South Beach! I love it and agree it doesn't look like something you'd normally get at H&M! You look beautiful (and tan!) in it, of course!
ReplyDeleteI read that the "white after Labor Day" rule was only started by women from "old money" families. They thought they were superior to "new money" women, so they made up little fashion rules to set themselves apart.
ReplyDeleteYES to white after Labor Day, especially in warm climates! This looks so stunning on you and I can't believe it is H and M! The lines on it are amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous and I loved how all the buildings were white in South Beach. And the food was SO amazing!!

SUCH a cute dress. I love the neckline and the t-shirt style with the skin showing. It makes the tan POP. I personally wouldn't wear an all white dress in October because I live in New England and it wouldn't feel right to me. But I wouldn't say it's because of the rule. In Florida, anything goes!
ReplyDeleteBest H&M find ever! This seriously looks way more expensive than it is!
ReplyDeletei pretty much never wear white but only because i'm a clumsy ass and would spill something immediately. you on the other hand should wear it every day! it looks amazing on you. what a great find, fits you perfectly.
ReplyDeleteSo so chic girl! Before I went to Miami this past summer I didn't have a huge desire to go, but now I can't wait for the next time I visit. Wearing white after labor day is totally acceptable, especially in South Beach! Love those wedges and totally loving the oversized sunnies more and more on you girl!
ReplyDeleteI definitely think living in Florida means you can rock year round! :) You look gorgeous girl, that dress is perfect on you!
