I'm not going to lie, I'm EXHAUSTED this morning. I had an amazing weekend (thank you to every one for the birthday wishes and those who made it out to help me celebrate) but man do I wish I could spend all day sleeping today. You'd think on your birthday weekend you'd be able to get lots of sleep but I think I was up by 6:30 am on both Saturday and Sunday so it appears that isn't necessarily true. Since I had a crazy busy weekend I decided to join up with the lovely Biana and Meghan for Weekending!
{Started out my weekend with lunch at Cheesecake Factory with some coworkers and this happened. Hello S'mores cheesecake}
{We had a birthday celebration for all the June babies in the office. How cute is this candy cake? Apparently June is National Candy Month. Who knew?}
{Boat time with my girls! Had an amazing time out on the river Saturday}
{The only group shot from the boat. Thanks Steph!}
{More boat fun! Yes, I made myself a 30th birthday Solo cup!}
{Proof we actually got in the water for a few minutes}
{Birthday dinner at Senor Tequila... I love Mexican food!}
{Birthday margaritas and dessert sopaipilla}
{Thank you ladies for coming out!!!}
{Dinner with these lovely ladies (and a few more who had already left by this time)}
Thank you again for all the birthday wishes and thank you especially to everyone who made my birthday so amazing! Love you all so much and I'm so thankful to have such great people in my life!
Happy Friday dolls! Cheers to making it through the first week of summer! As I've already mentioned at least 100 times it's my birthday this weekend so I'm super excited for Friday to be over so I can start the celebrations! I'm getting my hair done after work today (trust me, it needs it) and then the festivities start tomorrow. So for this Friday Five I decided to do a birthday edition.
{Just for the beginning... go shawty, it's ya birthday!}
{Not sure how I feel about this song yet but it's titled Birthday so it's appropriate... I think}
1. Just a few of my favorite birthday memories! From doing shots in my house before playing mini golf to going out downtown and deciding my feet hurt so someone needs to carry me... all fun memories!
2. My favorite birthday present. Ever. I got Novie for my birthday in 2007 and I fell in love with him the moment I saw him. I mean seriously, look at that cute little fuzzy face! How can you not want to squeeze it? :)
3. My favorite birthday cake! I'm not much of a sweets person but I love strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting. SO good. Oh and it doesn't hurt that it's pink (no pink isn't my favorite color but it makes a cake look pretty!)
4. My favorite birthday drink. I think I might be growing out of this one but for the longest time my favorite drink to drink on my birthday was a Bellini. Last year was the first year I didn't have one on my birthday but it ended up getting replaced with tequila shots. I guess that's what you get when you go to a Mexican restaurant for your birthday!
5. One of my favorite birthday/growing older quotes. It's so easy to forget that growing older isn't necessarily a bad thing. I've lost so many friends and family throughout my life that I try to appreciate every day I get and remember that so many people might not even make it to the age I am now. I'm appreciative of every year I get to spend happy and healthy.
On that note, I hope everyone has an absolutely fabulous weekend! And...
This month when Paige and I were coming up with our ideas for East vs West coast and she threw out the idea of bikinis and swim cover ups I immediately agreed since it is summer and both of us live in states known for bikinis, sunshine and beaches but inside I was absolutely freaking out. I've repeatedly said "You'll never catch me in a bikini on my blog" and yet here I am. At first I planned on doing the entire post in various bathing suit cover ups I own then I just decided to say screw it and do the bikini shots. With a milestone birthday right around the corner (and by corner I mean literally this weekend!) I might as well take a few risks, right? So here we go...
If I would have known Paige wasn't going to do any actual bikini shots I probably wouldn't have included any either but since I didn't get her pictures until 1 am EST this morning and I got up at 5:45 am to write this I figured I'd just go with what I have! Editing pictures before coffee is never a good idea. Plus you gotta step out of your comfort zone at some point, right?
Alright, so NOW it's my turn. I was lazy (and sick) so I didn't drive out to the beach like I had originally planned and instead headed down to the pool at 9 am in the morning to ensure no one else would be there, I might add. It was actually pretty peaceful down there at that time and not blazing hot yet! For this look I decided to mix and match two bikinis. I really thought the fringe with the tie dye made a fun match so I figured why not? I threw on this adorable cut out linen coverup over my bathing suit. Even though the sleeves are long on it the material is super breathable so it doesn't feel overly hot. I'll definitely be sporting this coverup in Key West next week!
coverup: solitaire swim {found at marshall's, similar here} / bikini top: l*space / bikini bottoms: sofia by vix {exact here, similar here} / sandals: target / necklace: dogeared whispers cross / sunglasses: tory burch / nail polish: essie chubby cheeks {nails} and essie penny talk {toes}
So I've decided to try something new and join along with Katy at Vodka and Soda for the Humpday Confessions this week! With my birthday right around the corner I figured might as well get a few confessions off my chest before starting a new decade!
Before I start my confessions can we just take a moment to appreciate how freaking gorgeous Ian's eyes are? I'm sorry but Jeremy Meeks doesn't even come close to Ian. I'm all for the bad boy hottie but I prefer my men to not have a rap sheet that includes two years in prison and be a part of one of the most notorious gangs in the United States. Thanks but no thanks. With that being said, lets go ahead and kick this thing off. I confess that every time I'm sick (or home alone, or working from home, or not in the mood to make anything for lunch/dinner, or numerous other scenarios) I make an entire pot of Kraft mac and cheese and eat the whole thing. Right out of the pot. No need to mess up any extra dishes when it's not necessary, right? Just grab a pot holder and go. At least I use a regular spoon (sometimes). If that wasn't enough... it HAS to be the spiral mac and cheese with the powder cheese. No liquid gold for me and don't even try to serve me other shapes. Not happening.
I confess that I love three ways. Yup, you read that correctly. I. Love. 3-ways.
Oh come on guys, get your mind out of the gutter! I'm from Cincinnati, home of the chili three-way and I have to admit, living in Florida I miss them from time to time. Specifically right now. If you're ever in the Cincinnati area do me yourself a favor and stop into a Skyline Chili and get one. Don't worry, there are literally more Skyline's then McDonald's in Cincinnati so you should have no trouble finding one! I confess it drives me nuts when people write you/tweet you/etc and are like "Hey! I'm following you now, I'd love a follow back!" First of all, I can look to see if you're following me or not. Most of the time when someone messages me this type of message, guess what? They're usually NOT actually following me. It drives me even more nuts when you see these same people mass sending out the same message and I look at their account and they're actually following like 10 people but they have over 700 followers.
I confess that I get a little stabby when I go to the the gym and I'm FINALLY sucking it up and doing cardio and the one treadmill I like is being used. The thing is, I absolutely hate doing cardio. Hate, loath, despise...however you want to call it. I do spinning once a week but every once in awhile I skip and have to do it on my own and the only thing I can stand doing for more than 10 minutes is this treadmill that has a ridiculous incline and there's only one of them in the entire gym. So when I walk in and someone is on my treadmill walking at a leisurely 3 mph pace at a 0% incline I really want to throw something at them.
Finally, while on the gym confessions... I confess that it irrationally irritates me to see someone texting or talking on their phone while working out. Really? The gym is my "me time" to disconnect from the world and focus on myself, the last thing I really want to do while working out is listen to you complain about your day at work or your roommate or whatever else you feel like complaining about. And then when you get mad at me for listening in on your conversation when you're two feet away from me and chatting loudly... yeah.
On that note, I'm out! Hope you enjoyed my Humpday Confessions!
I'm finally starting to feel normal again so hopefully I'll be back to my normal blogging self soon! Especially since it's my birthday this weekend (eek, where did the time go?!?) and no one wants to be feeling crappy on their birthday!
You may have seen me rocking this romper on a few of my Instagram pictures last week so I thought I'd finally share it on my blog since I really do love the mixed prints and colors in it. Not to mention I always get a ton of comments every time I wear it! Surprisingly I found this romper at Target last November (yeah I know, not exactly what you'd think of finding in any store in November but this is Florida...) when I was looking for something cute to wear on my company cruise to the Bahamas. I've been pretty adamant about not getting gladiator sandals because I've always felt like they can do some really weird things to your feet/legs/ankles. I knew that finding the perfect pair for me wasn't going to be easy so ordering them online wasn't an option. I found these randomly and decided to give them a try and what do you know... I didn't hate them! They're actually a lot more comfortable than I thought they'd be and I don't think they look too silly on me... hopefully... LOL! I definitely think with gladiator sandals (and a lot of other trends) you really have to try on several things before you find what works for you.
{ via } Happy Halloween babes! It's a bittersweet day since tomorrow means my favorite season is officially over. I'll be soa...
