Sequins and Sea Breezes: One Night With Jimmy

One Night With Jimmy

6/19/2014

I've only been talking about this day/night since the day I managed to score reservations (yes, I said reservations not tickets but I'll get to that in a few minutes) a few weeks ago and the night has finally come and gone and it was worth every second! I apologize ahead of time because I have a feeling this is going to be a long post!

If you don't follow me or didn't know, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon decided to take a little road trip to Orlando for the week and everyone in Orlando was pretty psyched about this. We may have all the fun theme parks but we rarely have anything exciting happen here so a taping for a show is kind of a big deal. The whole entire process for getting tickets was pretty much kept a mystery until the day of (and even then there were plenty of surprises after scoring tickets). Jimmy tweeted out about the tickets becoming available in the middle of a work day but didn't give out details of exactly when. Needless to say the productivity in Orlando dropped drastically after that tweet went out. When the ticket queue finally opened I was shocked to refresh and find myself sitting on a screen that asked how many tickets and what day I wanted tickets for. I immediately picked a day and the maximum number of tickets allowed and hit submit. Success! Turns out that might have been the easiest part.. ok, I might be exaggerating there. I don't know exactly how many reservations were given out but from what I heard they were gone in less than 5 minutes. Upon reading my confirmation e-mail I'm a little disheartened to learn that not only does my reservation not guarantee me tickets into the taping but the taping is at 5 pm on a Tuesday evening. No big deal right, just leave work a little early? Wrong.  You have to pick up your tickets between 10 am and 2 pm and then get in line for the taping between 3 and 4 pm. Ugh.  Finding someone who can take a full day off from work and who is willing to stand outside in the Florida heat and humidity for hours was not easy but luckily I found a few friends who were willing to go and Kerri from The Cheshire Kat (my new blog bestie) decided to take one for the team and join us!

Fast forward a few weeks and here we are at 8:30 in the morning standing in line to ensure we score tickets to see Jimmy. Two unbelievably face-melting hours later we scored our tickets and not only did we get tickets, they're SECOND ROW! We all decided to take a little break and cool off for awhile before getting back in line to go through security for the taping.

Getting through security was actually a breeze and before we knew it we were seated and waiting for the show to start. Jimmy had Kevin Hart and Jimmy Buffett on as his guests and The Roots were the guest band. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures from the actual show since no photos were allowed and normally I might have considered bending this rule but the scariest woman I've ever encountered was the stage hand and I was petrified she would come after me like a spider monkey you made direct eye contact with if I even touched my phone. No joke, this lady was so scary one of the girls in the audience clapped so hard her hands were bleeding, I can't make this stuff up people.  After the taping we were allowed to go into the park and ride some rides and get some adult beverages before watching Jimmy Buffett perform (oh did I mention second row AGAIN?!?) so I'll leave you with a few pictures from our adventures in the park!

{A little Diagon Alley sneak peek before it opens July 8th! You're welcome}

And now to leave you with me and Kerri's 2 seconds of fame. If you don't want to watch the whole thing you can find us around the 1:22 mark!
