Sequins and Sea Breezes: Weekending

Weekending

2/13/2017

Happy Monday friends! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Mine definitely didn't feel long enough but I guess it never really does. I woke up in the middle of the night Saturday night full of things I wanted to say today and then when I went to write this post I couldn't think of anything to say, does that ever happen to anyone else? Hoping I'm not the only one there! Linking up with Biana for my weekend recap!

Friday was kinda rough for me. We were supposed to be getting audited at work, which anyone who has ever been through an audit knows it's not fun and can be incredibly time-consuming and invasive but after some canceled flights and some discussions we decided to reschedule it for another day. Which should have been a relief but in all reality, I really just wanted to get it done and over with. After a bit of a rough day rose is the only way to end a day.

Saturday started out with a 2.9 mile run and ended with margaritas. Without getting too "personal" on you, I found out that one of my longest family friends was dying and my parents were taking off to go back to Cincinnati to say their goodbyes. If you didn't already know, I've already lost all of my grandparents so basically my parents are all I have left so hearing that a close family friend that is my parents age was dying really hit me hard. It's one of those things that  you really don't expect to hear so it made me realize that I don't have forever with my parents left.

Sunday was a day of errands and chores before heading out with Kerri and the boys for some mimosas and darts. Sadly, while I was out I got the call from my dad that our family friend had passed. Yet another reminder that life is all too short, but I was thankful to be with close friends that love me and were able to lift my spirits. Kerri and I were able to beat the boys in darts before ending the night with lots of German food. My parents and my long time family friends may not live near me but I appreciate my adopted family that I have here and how much they help me through the tough times.

I apologize that things got a little deep here today but that's life. It's not always rainbows and butterflies but I feel that I need to acknowledge my real life and it's not always pretty and fun. But thank you a million times over to Kerri and the boys for always making me have fun even when I don't feel like it. You guys are so amazing!

I hope everyone has an amazing week and just remember, no matter how bad it gets, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel!

  13. A run rewarded with margaritas is the perfect combo. And I'm sorry to hear about your family friend, especially realizing that they are close in age to your parents. I remember when my father was having health issues and really having to come to terms with the fact that my parents are invincible. It's hard.

  25. I know what you mean about getting the roadblock in your mind when you need to write, but nothing is actually coming to mind! I'm hitting that with my Hawaii posts, but hopefully the roadblock will get lifted sooner rather than later! I'm so sorry to hear about your family friend! It sucks that it takes something like that for us to realize how short life really is, but I'm glad that Kerri and the guys were able to lift your spirits! It's so great that you have such a great support system in Orlando!

  29. oh hun, i am so so sorry about your family friend. it really is horrible when something happens and it makes you realise how short life is and how quickly it can change. my mum is quite young - in my opinion anyway - and she had a stroke at the beginning of the year and it just wrecked me. hugs hun. hope you're able to spend some time with your parents soon.

  30. I'm so sorry for your loss but so grateful that you were surrounded by people who also love you on Saturday. I'm impressed with that 3 mile run... you totally earned all the margaritas. ;) Ugh. Audits. No fun. Hope it goes smoothly when it does get rescheduled!

  31. I'm sorry to hear things have been rough on you lately. I hope your week has been off to a good start. Life is too short and not promised to anyone. Enjoy the moments you do have with your loved ones. No need to apologize, life happens and this is your space to share what you would like. Hopefully we can all be a support to you as well. On a happier note, drinks and German food sound amazing, and way to beat the boys at darts! xo Beautifully Candid
