This month when Paige and I were coming up with our ideas for East vs West coast and she threw out the idea of bikinis and swim cover ups I immediately agreed since it is summer and both of us live in states known for bikinis, sunshine and beaches but inside I was absolutely freaking out. I've repeatedly said "You'll never catch me in a bikini on my blog" and yet here I am. At first I planned on doing the entire post in various bathing suit cover ups I own then I just decided to say screw it and do the bikini shots. With a milestone birthday right around the corner (and by corner I mean literally this weekend!) I might as well take a few risks, right? So here we go...
If I would have known Paige wasn't going to do any actual bikini shots I probably wouldn't have included any either but since I didn't get her pictures until 1 am EST this morning and I got up at 5:45 am to write this I figured I'd just go with what I have! Editing pictures before coffee is never a good idea. Plus you gotta step out of your comfort zone at some point, right?
Alright, so NOW it's my turn. I was lazy (and sick) so I didn't drive out to the beach like I had originally planned and instead headed down to the pool at 9 am in the morning to ensure no one else would be there, I might add. It was actually pretty peaceful down there at that time and not blazing hot yet! For this look I decided to mix and match two bikinis. I really thought the fringe with the tie dye made a fun match so I figured why not? I threw on this adorable cut out linen coverup over my bathing suit. Even though the sleeves are long on it the material is super breathable so it doesn't feel overly hot. I'll definitely be sporting this coverup in Key West next week!
coverup: solitaire swim {found at marshall's, similar here} / bikini top: l*space / bikini bottoms: sofia by vix {exact here, similar here} / sandals: target / necklace: dogeared whispers cross / sunglasses: tory burch / nail polish: essie chubby cheeks {nails} and essie penny talk {toes}
Hey dolls! It's time again for the East vs. West Coast mash-up with the lovely Paige from Life's A Party Dress Like It! This time we decided to do an ode to a summer trend you're going to be seeing a lot this year, crochet/lace. Paige and I were super excited to do this trend since we're both loving the crochet/lace trend this year!
I'm seriously loving the way Paige paired a lavender linen skirt with her flirty crochet top and added a a bit of dressy fun to the outfit with metallic sandals. And she's totally rocking that side braid (a definitely summer hair go-to)!
Shhh.... don't tell any one but I actually wore this outfit (and took the pictures) a few weeks ago when I was over visit friends on the Gulf coast. It was an absolutely gorgeous weekend, sunny, warm with a slight breeze so this outfit was perfect. We didn't do anything fancy but we did do a lot of walking and grabbed a few drinks. These shorts were so comfortable for walking around, it was almost like wearing pajamas but way cuter. I absolutely love the neon pink color of them, it really makes you look like you have an amazing tan. I was actually surprised at how tan I looked in these pictures! I laid out earlier that day but trust me, the shorts do wonders for giving the illusion that I'm ridiculously dark (the low lighting probably helped too since the pictures are a little dark too)!
It's that time of the month again! Time to face off again against the fabulous Paige from Life's A Party Dress Like It to see how the East vs West Coasts style the black and white trend. I can't believe this is mine and Paige's third collaboration already! It sneaks up on us so fast! Loving Paige's stylish sparkle top paired with that sexy leather skater skirt and those shoes... wow! Totally perfect for a date night or night out with the girls! If you haven't checked out Paige's blog you totally should! Girl is living the glam live over there in LA and I'm totally jealous, I mean seriously, how awesome is her roof top patio?!?
For my outfit I stayed on the more casual end pairing a black and white snakeskin print top from the new H&M Conscious Collection with a pair of white skinny jeans. I love that this top has a silky feel too so it's not super casual and can easily be dressed up but is still flowy and comfortable so you can wear it during the hot summer months without feeling like your suffocating. This top would also be super cute with a pair of colored skinny jeans to add that pop of color but since this outfit was all about the black and white I stuck with white which works since white skinny jeans are one of my favorite Spring staples. I topped off the look with my favorite pair simple black heels, some black and gold jewelry and of course my black Ray-Ban Wayfarers.
I absolutely love black and white together because of the classic timelessness of it. Black and white together is a trend that will never go out of style, it's been popular since the 60's! In a complicated world there's something reassuring about the simplicity and cleanliness of black and white that I love. Not to mention how no matter what you're wearing you always manage to look chic and sophisticated in black and white.
Pastels are always a spring trend so for this post I paired up with the gorgeous Paige from Life's A Party Dress Like It to share how East vs West Coast girls style this trend. Paige has been a busy, busy girl lately; if you didn't already know, she got to attend the Oscars back in February for work (don't worry, I'm just as jealous as you probably are... the dresses, the glam... *sigh*) but she managed to fit our monthly collab in and I'm super excited! Just check out that skirt... how Lily Pulitzer chic?!?
I actually got this outfit inspiration from a Pinterest pin I saw. The girl was wearing mint skinny jeans, a coral tank and the turquoise J. Crew bubble necklace. I thought to myself, I have everything she's wearing in this outfit except the coral tank but I did have this aqua tank. So I decided to recreate it with what I had but still wasn't totally feeling the J.Crew necklace with it so I threw on my el cheapo Forever 21 necklace and BAM, outfit complete. I love when an outfit just kinda falls together and you end up loving it. I'm absolutely loving aqua and mint together right now too. Who am I kidding? I love both aqua and mint with pretty much anything, both are easily two of my favorite shades to sport. Nothing like a great pastel color to brighten up any skin tone and when you're lacking that summer tan that's definitely a good thing! I can't wait until this weather makes up it's mind and I can actually spend some time outdoors for a bit... I'm seriously having Vitamin D withdrawals! ;)
{ via } Happy Halloween babes! It's a bittersweet day since tomorrow means my favorite season is officially over. I'll be soa...
