Sequins and Sea Breezes: 3 Easy Skincare Secrets

3 Easy Skincare Secrets

1/25/2017

I'm dubbing 2017 as "The Year of the Better Me". So, what does that mean exactly? No, I'm not making "resolutions" because let's be real, I never stick to them. Does anyone? Instead I'm making a conscious decision to be better to my body. Let's face it, I'm only getting older and the years (upon years, upon years) that I spent laying out by the pool in the harsh Florida sun is definitely starting to catch up with me. And of course I rarely listened to my mom (sorry mom!) and wore little to no sunscreen while out and even wore my makeup up to bed on occasion. Throughout the years I've told myself I'll get better with my skincare and what I put in to my body but I haven't REALLY put that much effort into it but this year I'm going to change all of that. This year is going to be different and I'm going to be a better me, or at least be better to me!
Starting with skincare. There really is no reason to not take care of your skin. Not only is it the largest organ it's the easiest one to neglect. We spend time making healthy meals, going to the gym, cleaning our homes but at the end of the day it's super easy to just skip getting as detailed as we could with our skincare because we're tired. Trust me, I'm guilty of this on more than one occasion but now is the time to make the change. These three easy tricks won't completely replace a full on skincare regimen but I can promise you that you will definitely see an improvement in your skin within a few weeks of using them!

 1. Use an ice roller. Yup, you read that correctly. An ice roller. This magical little tool takes no more than 3 minutes twice a day to use, yet does wonders for your skin. Have a little too much salt the night before and wake up all puffy? Just a few minutes with this magical tool will decrease puffiness , redness and irritation as well as help with those suffering from allergies!

2 . Wash your face with a Foreo (or Clarisonic). Some people swear by the Foreo, some swear by the Clarisonic, it's definitely personal preference but as someone who religiously used the Clarisonic for years, I am definitely a converted Foreo fanatic. I love not having to swap out the brush heads and this is gentler but still extremely effective on my skin. Not to mention I charged this thing on Christmas Eve and still haven't needed to charge it again! Whether you prefer the Foreo or the Clarisonic, washing your face with a cleansing tool makes a huge difference. These devices give your skin a deep clean while helping prevent breakouts, brightens your skin and they help the products you use after washing soak into your skin better.

3. Use rose oil. I discovered this rose oil over a year ago when I received it as a "new product trial" through Sephora and while I was skeptical at first since I do have oily skin, once I gave it a chance I never looked back. It does wonders for your skin's brightness and fine lines by increasing skin's vitamin C absorption by 1,000 percent to support natural collagen synthesis, and provide powerful skin brightening, tone repair, and antioxidant protection against free radical and UV damage. It's a little on the pricey side but a little bit goes a long way and if you want to see results quickly, it's definitely the way to go!

As a little added bonus I'm sharing a few other of my favorite skin care products!

If you read my blog regularly, you know I'm a huge IT Cosmetics fan so I wasn't surprised at all when I tried Confidence in a Cream and fell in love. I use this twice a day after washing my face and it really rejuvenates my skin and keeps the moisture locked in without it feeling greasy.
I'm also a huge fan of the Pixi Glow Tonic. This magic toner is definitely a staple in my skincare routine. It deeply cleans pores leaving your skin brighter and healthier looking and who doesn't want that?
Finally, I'm a firm believer that beauty comes from within so eating right and drinking lots of water will definitely help you achieve beautiful skin but vitamins and supplements never hurt either! These are some of my favorite gummy vitamins, packed full of  blend of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that help you look your best, 24-7. I'm also a huge fan of these gelatin capsules. Everyone claims that biotin is the best for hair and nail growth but in all honesty, I prefer gelatin. Gelatin is not only great for nail and hair growth but it's also amazing for preventing and reducing fine lines and wrinkles, balancing hormones and it's a great source of protein!

And there you have it, my easy skincare secrets! What are some of your skincare secrets?

  23. I love my clarisonic... which reminds me... I need to order new brushes for it!! Does rose oil work for all types of skin? I'm more normal than anything, but I've been a little dryer than normal... because I've been doing a poor job at skincare. Sigh.

  24. I didn't make a resulotion either this year (kind of forgot) but I've been working on health/body care and skin care as I just got a facial over the weekend. This is the first time I'm hearing about the Ice Roller but holy shit, for that price, it's totally worth it. I agree with you on using rose oil too but I use the Pixxie brand which is a little more affordable.

  27. All of those are so good!! Some of my faves too.

  28. I really want to ditch my Clarisonic and get a Foreo now! I haven't used mine in so long because the brush head needs to be changed and my skin shows it. That Pixi glow tonic sounds amazing and I definitely need to try it! I swear by pre-natal vitamins too even if you're not planning on having babies. It's like a magic pill for hair, skin and nails!

  29. Don't mind me as I add that ice roller to my cart. Seriously such a great idea!

  30. I totally am with you, although I don't have the sun exposure like you do, but definitely have gone to bed with makeup on and now looking back I am disgusted. Washing my face each night makes me feel refreshed and ready for bed and also helps with keeping acne at bay. That ice roller sounds super interesting!
