Weekending in Cincinnati
8/21/2017
Oh Monday. Did you really have to show up so quickly? I was rather enjoying the weekend and I'm not quite ready to be back at work yet. Just as fair warning, this post is going to be very light on words and heavy on pictures since I spent the end of last week and the start of the weekend in my former hometown, Cincinnati and I took just under a million pictures. Ok not literally, but I did take quite a few as this was my first time back in a few years and I got to do some exploring around town by myself for the first time... ever so I really got to appreciate things a bit differently. And I'm not going to lie, I crammed a LOT into the less than 3 days I was there. Writing a blog post isn't the easiest on my phone so while this isn't exactly in chronological order, at least you don't have to read a ton, right? Let's just jump right in, shall we?
No trip to Cincinnati is complete without making a trip to Skyline Chili to get some Cincinnati chili. It's not your typical chili so if you've never had it before and want to try it, just let go over your normal chili expectations. I promise you it's amazing and you can ONLY get it in Ohio/Northern Kentucky.
After satisfying my chili urge, I headed over to Carew Tower to walk around the observation deck and take in the 360 degree views from the 49th story. I also got to spy watch some of the Bengals closed practice from the tower.
After walking around downtown and admiring the art deco architecture Cincinnati is known for (in case you didn't know, I'm actually a huge art and architecture fan... random I know) it was time for an adult beverage on a rooftop of course! Bruce Willis happened to also be in town filming a new movie called Reprisal that we were able to watch from the rooftop deck.
Of course I had to make a stop at Newport Aquarium with my uncle to play with the penguins. Another random but possibly already known fact about me, I LOVE penguins! Yes, I know... am I 30 or 10? Does it really matter as long as I'm having fun? Exactly.
That night I met up with one of my oldest friends. Nicole and I have known each other for 23 years and no matter how many years we go without seeing each other, we're always able to pick right up where we left off and it's like no time has passed at all. It's amazing having a forever friend in this girl.
Before I headed out I had brunch at the cutest little place. They had some amazing things on the menu like avocado toast, breakfast sandwiches on cibatta but I had to go with another Cincinnati only favorite, goetta, since I can only get it there!
For the first time since I was a kid, we also headed up to Columbus which of course required a stop at The Ohio State University. I'm not going to lie, I was a little unimpressed with the stadium from the outside since I'm used to the brick structures in the south that just make it look a bit fancier but the stadium is HUGE and hopefully one day I'll get to see a game there.
Saturday it was time to head back to Florida. In true fashion blogger form, I think I changed outfits more times than I was actually there. That's not even an exaggeration, I changed at least twice a day while I was there but in my defense, it was really hot it's not like it wasn't necessarily needed.
Until next time Cincy!

Skyline is the best! I grew up in Northeast Ohio, but whenever we were in Cincinnati for tennis tournaments, we would stop. It's like no other! Cincinnati is really a fun city! Happy Monday!
