First, I want to apologize for the picture quality of these pictures. It looks like they were taken at night but it was actually around 5pm when I took these it just happened to be on a day that a massive storm was moving through and I got these pictures in seconds before it started pouring. I actually got completely drenched for this shoot which might be why I'm feeling a bit under the weather today...Ok enough complaining! I got these shorts from Hollister on clearance while my mom was here and I adore the studded floral pattern on them. They're chiffon so they can be dressed up or down (as dressy as shorts get of course!) and are extremely comfortable! I decided to go pretty casual and pair them with an oversized sweater and a pair of booties (which happen to be one of my favorite pairs of shoes lately, if you haven't noticed) from Target. Since it was INSANELY windy out (I literally thought we were going to have a tornado or something!) I decided to wear my hair up in a sock bun which is totally my go-to when I'm having a bad hair day! I actually made my sock bun out of a sock but now they have all of these fun little devices that are supposed to make doing a sock bun easier. I haven't tried one yet since my sock seems to be working ok but I'm not going to lie, I'm definitely curious! Has anyone tried these things and do they actually work well?
Ok so this had to be the windiest day ever and of course I was in a skirt! I'm pretty sure people were stopping just to see if I was going to have a Marilyn Monroe moment (spoiler alert, I totally did). But it was still a gorgeous day out so I decided to take advantage and spend some time outside! I got this top from Tria a few weeks ago and they only had it in a medium but I really felt like this top NEEDED to be in my closet so I got it anyway. Truthfully I don't think it looks too big on, the only thing is the arm holes are a little big but I can live with that. I decided to pair it with a leather (is anyone surprised I paired something with leather??) skater skirt and a pair of simple strappy sandals to go for a classic yet trendy look. I love the neon/chartreuse color of this top and the beaded detail on the sleeves. It looks great dressed up or down which is my favorite aspect of any article of clothing! Not even going to lie, after doing these pictures I totally changed into jeans because it was just WAY too windy to be sporting a skirt for any length of time that day without flashing everyone around a bit too much skin! Hope everyone had an amazing weekend!
I know most people wear pink or red or florals for Valentine's Day but I've never really been a "pink" girl. I don't think a lot of pink looks overly great with my skin tone and while I do love red I don't love red when I'm as pale as I am but I ALWAYS love blue. I really think blue looks great on anyone and navy is such a royal color in my opinion. That's why for Valentine's Day I decided to forgo the usual V-Day attire and go for something more me. I actually bought this lace one-shoulder navy dress for my birthday and completely forgot about it until I saw Kate Middleton sporting a very similar dress on her North American tour. I knew at that point I HAD to find a reason to wear it again so why not Valentine's Day? *Update: Kate also wore blue this Valentine's Day :) * Continuing with the Princess Kate look, I paired the dress with nude heels, minimal jewelry and a neutral clutch. Now if only I could find the perfect fascinator... ;)
I'm not even going to lie, I'm not a big Valentine's Day person. I don't usually like to go out on Valentine's Day because I feel like the service is never as good and why would I want to spend Valentine's Day crammed in a restaurant with a bunch of people I don't know all trying to have a romantic moment with their significant other? I definitely don't fault anyone who is super into Valentine's Day, it's just not really my style. I am however totally down to order in Chinese takeout and drink a bottle of wine... but I'd be down for that any day of the week!

Hello warmer Florida weather! Can you please stick around longer than a day or two? *Update: it didn't stick around* I took advantage of a warm and sunny day by sporting this adorable flouncey skirt from Forever21 which has a fun abstract print in great pinks, yellows, blacks and neutrals. Definitely a great color palette for spring! Since it's still technically winter and a bit chilly out I decided to pair the skirt with a cream oversized sweater from H&M and quite possibly my favorite studded booties from Target. I'm one of those people who absolutely cannot step outside without sunglasses if it's sunny out so I topped off my look with my Ray-Ban Wayfarers and a fun fringe necklace from Forever 21.
I'm not going to lie, I just HAD to include the picture of me jumping for joy about the nicer weather in this post even though I feel like I look silly in it. I had so much fun with this shoot because of the weather and it was great getting to watch everyone take their boats out for the day since lately out weekends have been horrible. Although I will admit, it totally made me want a boat! Jealous! Happy Thursday everyone!
Obviously I'm not a DIY blogger and let's face it, I'm not overly crafty but I saw this little project on Pinterest and decided to give it a try and I had to share it! I was using a Starbucks coffee mug to hold my pens in a work until we ran out of cups at work and I had to wash it out to actually use it for coffee (crazy, I know). At that point I decided I wanted something else to hold my pens and I wanted it to sparkle. I took to Pinterest and found these DIY glitter mason jars that someone had used as a flower vase and thought "why not"? They're cute, they're sparkly... win/win in my book! How I did mine varies slightly from the way the Pin did it so I included how I did mine below! I went out after work and bought all the supplies at Michael's and got to work! The lighting on the pictures isn't the greatest, sorry. It was raining outside and I don't have the best lighting in my living room but I think you can get the idea. I was pretty happy with how it turned out; the lovely mason jar is sitting on my desk filled with pens (and a pair of scissors) as we speak and my coffee mug is free to be used when needed!
-Mod Podge {I used the glossy finish but the site I got the idea from used matte}
-Gold Glitter {I used thick glitter because I plan on using it for something else but you can get the fine glitter and it would work fine}
-Foam Brush
-Acrylic Sealer
I took my foam brush and dipped it into the Mod Podge and then coated the bottom and sides of the mason jar as far up as I wanted the glitter to go. You can either do the entire jar or go about half way up like I did. Next comes the fun part, which I did document but the picture came out blurry so I didn't post it, pour some glitter into the mason jar (you don't need to put a ton in there but if you over pour the good part is you can save the glitter you don't use!) and put the lid back on the jar. Then shake what ya momma gave ya (ok really you just need to shake the jar but why not blast some music and dance away with the jar) and cover the Mod Podge in glitter. You will still be able to see the Mod Podge through the glitter so have no fear if it looks like glue is holding the glitter on! Next walk away and let it dry for a few hours. Once the Mod Podge has dried (it should dry clear so if it's still hazy looking it probably needs to dry a bit longer) pour the excess glitter out, or back into the container and then you can seal the glitter with the spray (I HIGHLY recommend doing this outside or in a well ventilated area... otherwise you might pass out or kill some brain cells in the process. This stuff does not smell overly pleasant) and again let it dry. Then, voilà ! You have a cute, sparkly mason jar!
What fun Pinterest projects have you tried? I can't wait to try my next project now that football season is over and I have some free time and since it seems to be rainy every weekend it's the perfect chance to try them!
{ via } Happy Halloween babes! It's a bittersweet day since tomorrow means my favorite season is officially over. I'll be soa...
