Sequins and Sea Breezes: Embellished Chiffon

Embellished Chiffon

2/18/2014

First, I want to apologize for the picture quality of these pictures. It looks like they were taken at night but it was actually around 5pm when I took these it just happened to be on a day that a massive storm was moving through and I got these pictures in seconds before it started pouring. I actually got completely drenched for this shoot which might be why I'm feeling a bit under the weather today...Ok enough complaining! I got these shorts from Hollister on clearance while my mom was here and I adore the studded floral pattern on them. They're chiffon so they can be dressed up or down (as dressy as shorts get of course!) and are extremely comfortable! I decided to go pretty casual and pair them with an oversized sweater and a pair of booties (which happen to be one of my favorite pairs of shoes lately, if you haven't noticed) from Target. Since it was INSANELY windy out (I literally thought we were going to have a tornado or something!) I decided to wear my hair up in a sock bun which is totally my go-to when I'm having a bad hair day! I actually made my sock bun out of a sock but now they have all of these fun little devices that are supposed to make doing a sock bun easier. I haven't tried one yet since my sock seems to be working ok but I'm not going to lie, I'm definitely curious! Has anyone tried these things and do they actually work well?

sweater: h&m / shorts: hollister / necklace: forever 21 {old, similar here} / boots: target / lips: smashbox heat wave in vip pink / nails: essie in chubby cheeks

  1. Oh no! Would have been funny to do this entire shoot soaking wet. :S Good thing not though, because you look great! I love how accessible your fashion is. My kind of stores! :)

    1. Haha it would have been funny to at least get one shot of me soaked but it was lightning out and crazy wind so I ran back inside as quickly as possible! Thanks girl!! :)

I can only do a sock bun with the donut-shaped thing I bought at H&M ... it actually works really well!

  7. I love the oversized sweater! So comfy any day, and anywhere. I'm trying to add more and more to my closet since Chicago is at the extreme of winter mania. I've tried one of those sock bun inventions before that my friend had; my sock bun became bigger and a lot more sturdier. Definitely worth a shot :)

    1. I'm definitely going to have to try one out then! The bigger the better! ;) OMG yes, lots of sweaters are a MUST in Chicago! My friend just moved there and I don't know how she did it. Florida to Chicago seems like the worst transition ever! Stay warm!!
