Sequins and Sea Breezes: Crochet Shift

Crochet Shift

1/14/2016

Happy Thursday lovelies! One more day until the weekend and I can't wait! Yesterday was a doozy with all my meetings so blogging just wasn't even an option for me. I could barely keep up with work emails, I was in and out of meetings so much, so I just figured I'd take the day off from the blogging world to make it a little easier on myself. And I went back to the gym on Tuesday night for the first time since September and man am I hurting. But hey, no pain, no gain... right? Any suggestions for easing back into working out? It's tough for me since for awhile I worked out 4-5 times a week, then cut it back to 3 times a week and then I just stopped for months so now I want to jump right back in at the weight I was at but that's not an option. FYI, getting older sucks!
Ok, now on to the outfit. I am so obsessed with this dress! I actually got it on sale a few weeks ago and now it's on SUPER clearance (under $25!) and I'm seriously debating on ordering the black version I love it so much. The dress has a serious boho vibe and the crochet cut outs make it a little sexy without showing off too much skin. It goes perfectly with boots or booties and I'm sure it'd even look great with flats... after I get a pedicure because right now my feet are staying in closed toed shoes! I've been wearing these boots on major repeat (I've worn them every day this week to work) because they are so comfy and perfect for these chilly days.

dress: american eagle {currently on sale for less than $30!} similar here / boots: dolce vita / purse: rebecca minkoff / rings: kendra scott, gorjana / bracelet: jules smith rocksbox c/o {get your first month free with code sequinsandseabreezesxoxo} / lips: mac in kinda sexy with mac spice liner

  7. You look awesome in the dress, lady! Love all the detailing.

I hear you on working out, when you finally get time you wanna go alll out, but don't wanna hurt yourself. I suggest try at least two weeks 3x a week at moderate weight, then really kick it up!

  9. Love that dress and those boots!! I also have that RM bag in Almond and I love it so much. As for you easing back into working out, try just doing 3 days a week and slowly increasing the intensity and the number of days that you go. Maybe that will help? I hope that you have a great day today too!! :-)

  12. That dress looks so cute on you! I love that color and the shape of it! Jumping back into workout is really tough the first week and then your body sort of just gets it. Once you get through this week, it will be so much easier! Muscle memory will help you regain your strength very quickly!

  19. Sounds like a busy week!!! Good for you for getting back on the work out train. I hear you on the getting older. I attempted the monkey bars the other day at the park because I used to fly across them ... well ... haha ... I made it but BARELY. Pretty pathetic!!!

  20. When in doubt... get the other color!! As far as the gym goes, grab yourself a new workout outfit and start slow; getting injured (or burned out) is not worth it! Make today work, Rachel -CubicleCouture

  21. Such a beautiful dress on you, loving the color! And yay for the "good kind of sore" from returning to the gym. You've got this gurlie! Just make a point to get there a few days a week, and before you know it - it'll be a part of your routine again. But if you miss it here and there, just know you already look fabulous :)

  24. That dress is so cute! I love that color on you and those boots are to die for. You should totally order the black one too at that price!!

Getting older does suck!!! My only suggestion is to not go full force every day your first week or two and let your body get used to the soreness :)

  25. Love this dress styled with the boots! I took way too long of a break from working out over the holidays, and man does it hurt to get started back up... I find by week two though I'm feeling better. Just keep at it!

  33. Love this! Such a good color on you. I have had to ease into working out again... after being sick and taking breaks, I am struggling to do 5 days a week! I have been so sore. I think the best thing you can do is start slow!

  35. this dress is fabulous on you! you should definitely order the black :)

i feel you on easing back into the gym. i always do that, start back at the weights or whatever that i used to do, and you just can't do that. you really do need to just start slow, ease back into it. it's so much easier said than done, i'm always gungho about it, and then i hurt myself haha and take 2 weeks off, and then i'm back where i started.
