Sequins and Sea Breezes: Disney's Wilderness Lodge

Disney's Wilderness Lodge

7/17/2017

How is it Monday already? Seriously. Can we redo the weekend, I wasn't ready. Last week felt like such a long week and I had planned on just relaxing and taking it easy this weekend but who was I kidding? I should have known better and been more prepared for the lack of sleep I got this weekend. Oh well, there's always next weekend, right? I've said this before and I'll say it again, some days it's so nice living near Disney to make a trip over there for just a few hours and that's exactly what I did on Saturday!
As locals we often don't stay at or even see the resorts unless we have a reason to. Well this weekend I just so happened to know some people who were in town for work staying at the Wilderness Lodge Resort so I took advantage and headed down there to check it out. This is one Disney resort I've never even seen before but heard it was amazing so I was excited to get to check it out without having to pay the Disney prices to stay there. Don't get me wrong... Disney still got me. At $12 a drink and I had... well, way more than I should have, I probably easily spent as much on drinks as I would have a room for the night but it's about the experience, right?
Since I didn't actually stay at the Wilderness Lodge I can't speak to anything about the rooms but I will say the property is gorgeous. You definitely don't feel like you're in Florida any more (minus the 90+ degree, 100% humidity weather) and it's far enough away from the main roads and parks that you really don't get any residual noise so it's pretty peaceful. Parking is free at the Wilderness Lodge if you're a guest or visiting a guest, which is nice considering almost every Disney property you have to pay for parking. We spent the majority of our time out at the Geyser Point Bar & Grill which is an outdoor bar/casual dining spot right on the lake. In typical Disney fashion, drinks are not cheap and neither is the food but they were good, especially for "casual" dining. If you stay out on the lake long enough you can see the fireworks from Magic Kingdom and at 9:30 every night they do a light parade on the lake which we were not expecting but gave us a good laugh. I can honestly say that I'd definitely go back to Wilderness Lodge (and might even pay to stay there for a night...might) but if I'm being completely honest... I'll skip the tequila to wine next time ;)

  2. I stayed at that resort when I was probably 11 years ole with my parents. Such a cute place and I love getting to visit the local resorts when friends are in town even though the prices for drinks etc are hefty!!! Have a great week lady! Emily @ Martinis & Bikinis

  4. How fun!!! I know what you mean by being locals in a tourist place. Growing up in Vegas everyone just assumes that we hang out on the strip. Actually...locals avoid it like the plague, but many happen to work down there. LOL! But it is always nice to play tourist for a bit. This looks like a fun resort.
