Sequins and Sea Breezes: Weekend Recap

Weekend Recap

3/03/2014

So I decided to give this whole "writing" thing a shot and see how it goes. While I love doing the whole picture #ootd thing I'm definitely NOT a model. I feel awkward taking pictures some times and let's face it, I take way more pictures I can't use than can (bitchy resting face, anyone?) which isn't really a surprise but since I already take so many pictures of my adventures over the weekend I figured why not share them with you?

My week last week didn't end on the best note so I was definitely looking forward to the weekend. After what seemed like bad news after bad news on Friday I just decided to call it a wash and stay in Friday night but I did happen to make an amazing copy cat recipe of Houlihan's stuffed chicken breast. If you've never gotten the pleasure of trying Houlihan's stuffed chicken breast well, I apologize. You are missing out on something that your tastebuds would thank you for. But have no fear! You can try the copy cat recipe and see how amazing it is for yourself! Instead of pan frying it I baked the chicken then turned the broiler on high to crisp up the edges but mainly just because I hate dealing with hot oil flying out of a pan.

Saturday we had AMAZING weather, sorry to all my friends stuck in winter still. I did a little shopping, did an impromptu photo shoot (to be featured in the blog tomorrow), and laid out by the pool and read. Has any one read any of Gillian Flynn's books? Holy crap that woman is CRAY!

{Sorry guys but yup, this was my Saturday afternoon}

Saturday evening I had a friend in from Jacksonville so we did dinner then decided to go out and get some drinks at a local brewery I'd never been to before called Hourglass. It was SUPER tiny but had a huge beer selection of all craft beers so it was a fun experience. I got to try a few new beers I had never tried including one from the brewery and another one from one of my favorite breweries, Ommegang, I had never had before. I also got to try an amazing beer from Germany that I can't even begin to try to pronounce but it was awesome!
{Hourglass Brown Ale on the left and Ommegang Scythe & Sickle on the right}

Sunday was another beautiful day but I decided to spend a little time with my favorite (fuzzy) child before going to Paint Nite with a friend. Have you ever heard of or tried Paint Nite? It's apparently becoming a popular thing (at least down here) so we decided to give it a shot thanks to a Groupon deal. We picked the "easy" painting since neither one of us are creatively inclined and I haven't painted since like, 5th grade. Although my paintings in 5th grade might have been better than what I produced last night. What I learned from Paint Nite... I'm a MUCH better drinker of wine than I am a painter of wine. Oh well, it's not about what it looks like, it's about having fun doing it, right? At least I'll keep telling myself that! ;)

{Me and Steph with our wine before the painting started}

{I can't draw straight lines sober, did they really think giving me wine would help?}

{With our "masterpieces". Ignore my totally demonic looking eyes. I have the WORST red eye ever! And yes, Steph kicked my butt in painting.}

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

  10. Sounds like a great weekend!!! I totally agree with you, I HATE the taking pictures part. I have awkward hands and never know what to do with them. Either I need a purse to hold or a prop. Haha You're gorgeous though so I bet more pictures come out great than you think!
