Sequins and Sea Breezes: Wasting away again in Margaritaville...

Wasting away again in Margaritaville...

5/05/2015

Happy Cinco de Mayo! I have to admit, this is one of my favorite holidays of the year... mainly because it gives me an excuse to eat Mexican food and drink margaritas and guys, I'm not going to lie, I love margaritas. I was going through my pictures and I have a LOT of pictures of me with margaritas, drinking margaritas or just of the margarita itself. To the point where I was kinda starting to wonder whether I had a slight margarita problem. But then I thought, is that really possible? Nah. In honor of Cinco, I decided to share with you some pictures of my favorite margaritas as well as my favorite at home recipe because what other day is it perfect acceptable to show my love for an adult beverage? ;)

I guess you could say I'm a bit of a margarita snob. The ready to drink mixers just don't cut it for me and a "great" margarita experience. Don't get me wrong, I'll mix one up if I'm going down to the pool or just looking for something quick and easy but I prefer a fresh homemade margarita.

This is by far one of my favorite homemade classic margarita recipes:

1 1/2 cups reposado tequila (I prefer Cabo Wabo or Camarena)
3/4 cup Cointreau
3/4 cup fresh lime juice
3 1/2 tablespoons of agave (more or less to taste)
kosher salt
lime wedges (for garnish)

Combine all ingredients except for salt and lime wedges in a chilled cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously and pour over ice in a salt rimmed glass then top with a lime wedge.

Enjoy!
Happy (and safe) Cinco de Drinko... I mean Mayo!

  44. I think it's acceptable! Being an adult means that you have more responsibilities, but also more freedom! Have you tried any of the canned Bud Light "Rita" drinks? I like the lime, raspberry, and mango ones.

  45. Yum, that recipe looks so good!! I love any excuse for a margarita (not that we need one), but maybe I'll have an extra today, just because I can ;)

  48. Totally want a margarita right now.. Too bad I have to go back to work because I'm working a private party.. Anyway, those all look delicious. My dad also makes the best margarita. They're strong though! ;-) Also, my husband bought the Casamigos tequila (George Clooney & Rande Gerber's tequila) and its really good. Try it if you see it. Happy Cinco de Mayo to you and cheers!!! :-)
