Sequins and Sea Breezes: Weekending

Weekending

3/09/2015

Happy Monday loves! Is it just me or are the weekends way too short? I love being able to do things on the weekends but when I do I always feel like I never get any time to relax and just do nothing before working all week. And with the time change this week I really feel shorted that hour... can someone talk to someone about getting that hour back? I can't figure out how it is that my body couldn't fall asleep earlier last night but had no problem waking up without my alarm this morning. It's going to be a rough day running on 5 hours sleep. Don't get me wrong, I'm super excited about it being lighter later, just not so excited about that whole spring forward thing. Oh well. Let's get into my weekend recap with Biana and Meghan!

Friday night I went out to City Walk at Universal to meet up with one of my college friends. It was freezing out (I'm convinced she brought her Seattle weather with her to Florida!) so our plans to play putt putt were derailed, instead we just caught up over drinks at a restaurant/bar that just so happened to have outdoor heaters. Seriously though, 86 degrees one day and 52 the next is just not ok.

Adrienne and I are "queens" of the selfies. We aren't technically good at it but we've been taking selfie pictures of ourselves since like 2007 (before the term even really became popular) so we took about 300 selfies and of course none of them turned out great but they're always hilarious to look through later.

Saturday I got to "sleep in", meaning I didn't get out of bed until like 8 am. It was heavenly. Then I cleaned the house a bit, watched Shrek... ok, watched all three... and just relaxed. It was a crappy day out so I really wasn't overly motivated to do much of anything and I don't feel bad about it. I did Facetime with my parents for a little over an hour and I got to see all of the new renovations to their house that I hadn't seen. I need to "hire" them to come out and do my house. They're doing an amazing job!

Sunday I went out to brunch at Kasa with a few former coworkers/friends for Lynda's birthday. I have to admit, Santiago's is definitely the better brunch spot but Kasa was definitely amazing at keeping our champagne bucket full. It was their one year anniversary so it was their "deluxe" brunch so I don't know what's included in the regular brunch but I definitely missed Santiago's croissant french toast.

After brunch we did some bar hopping around downtown. It was such a gorgeous day and the first Orlando City Soccer match was that afternoon so downtown was in full swing. After a few stops some of the girls went to the game and the rest of us headed home.

All in all it was a good weekend. I'm hoping the time change gets me motivated to get back to the gym and find a good schedule that works for me but we'll see! Hope everyone has an amazing week!

  3. I agree with you--this weekend felt like it went by really fast (but I did pack a lot into mine). Losing the hour is rough...its worth it in the long run for the lighter nights, but that transition is a hard one!
Love that you got to see one of your best friends this weekend--mine came into town this weekend too and any weekend that involved your best friend is always a good one!!
Hope you get caught up on your sleep tonight!

  14. I love the light in the air, I hate the fact that we lose an hour. People say it's not that big of a deal, but woof, losing that hour of sleep messes with me for a few days. I can't wait to feel normal.

Glad you had a fun but busy weekend. I love champagne brunches, they are the best!

  16. I am so with you about that lost hour!! I am straight up DRAGGING this morning, especially because last night I didn't even think about dinner until it started getting dark out, and the next thing I knew it, it was 8:30! I do appreciate all of the added evening light :)

  19. You guys really do have the craziest weather patterns! Although, I wouldn't mind a brisk cool down here in Arizona! We just discovered yesterday that our air conditioner is broken.... just in time for my parents to come in town for the week PLUS the arrival of 90 degree weather. Oh my gosh, I'm gonna die! I hate renting and waiting on someone elses time frame to get it fixed! Eric would have had it taken care of already if we owned the place!
Whoo- sorry about that rant! Sounds like a perfect weekend of getting out and relaxing at home!

  20. Your weather is absolutely gorgeous! It's warming up here but nowhere near that just yet! And the loss of an hour bothered me a little more than I thought it would this morning! Yay for a fab weekend!

  38. Cute pics. Looks like you had a fantastic weekend. And there's nothing wrong with that! Love the cooper cup, by chance would you be drinking a Moscow Mule? That is one of my favorites. I was drinking them myself this past saturday night at Nomad Bar in the Nomad Hotel here in NYC. It's more of a gourmet cocktail there. So tasty.
