Sequins and Sea Breezes: Weekending

Weekending

3/02/2015

Happy Monday loves! I'm writing this with one hand and a sweet puppy curled up on me so I'm going to keep it short and sweet. Actually, all of my posts this week are probably going to be short. I had a bit of a blogger "breakdown" this weekend where I just felt overwhelmed. I've been SO busy with work, I've barely been getting to the gym (which used to be my "me" time), my weekends have actually been pretty busy so finding time to blog on top of all of that has been difficult. Monday through Friday I'm gone from 6:30 am to about 7 pm so if you've noticed a drop off in my commenting and replying, that's why. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my job, but I'm still finding my way and figuring out how to balance everything and at times, it's a lot to deal with! But enough of my problems, it's time to link up with the gorgeous, Biana and Meghan, for our weekend recap.

Friday I had a busy day at work and I was still feeling a bit under the weather so after work I came home and relaxed. Which ended up being a wise choice considering I got woken up at 6 am on Saturday morning by a very sick puppy. I ended up having to wash him and my sheets and comforter so going back to sleep wasn't happening. So much for sleeping in... Saturday afternoon I had to run errands and then I had a girl's night planned Saturday night.

Yup. So that happened. Not normally my "thing" but we had fun and it was entertaining. People watching was at it's best there, for sure. Never have I ever seen so many screaming women, going completely nuts.

Sunday morning I had to wake up early to take my furbaby to the vet for a scheduled appointment. He was going in to get his teeth cleaned and a bump on his ear biopsied. Unfortunately this means they had to put him under which I HATE doing. While he was at the vet I went on a blogger brunch blate with Kerri, Kate and Emily. Say that three times fast.

Mimosas, french toast croissants, amazing good, and good times were had by all. Minus the few minutes it rained.

Obligatory brunch selfie. The Blogger Bunch (ya know, like the Brady Bunch, but better)

After brunch I ran some errands and opted not to do fashion pictures this week (sorry... kinda). After talking with the girls I just decided I needed a break this week so I stop feeling so overwhelmed. At the end of the day I'm really glad I made the decision. My pup ended up having a rough time during anesthesia. His heart rate dipped super low and they had to give him something to bring it back up but it didn't work so they ended up having to bring him out of anesthesia faster than normal. Which has left me with a super cuddly, still VERY loopy and out of it pup.

Yup, this is how I'm blogging right now. So with that, I'm going to go enjoy my puppy cuddles and wish everyone an amazing week!

  2. I really hate it when my job gets in the way of blogging. Don't they know where our true priorities are??? Hang in there love! We will all still be here for you while you get all the hours in the day accounted for. Don't you hate how working out is the first thing that gets compromised??? It's the same for me as well. Cheers to some at home workouts ;-) I wish I was there for blogger/selfie/mimosa/brunch day!

  7. Okay, that pcitre at the beginning of your post had me laughing so hard this morning. Thank you so much, it was much needed this Monday, haha.

Girl, you do you! I love reading your blog and checking out your fashion pictures, but you know what, I'll love ya even if you post twice a week. Blogging is supposed to be fun, that's it so take the time you need to find that feeling again. I'm sorry work is stressful, even if you love it. I hope it chills out a bit for you so you can feel less overwhelmed. Get your me time back, that's the important thing! xoxo

  9. Girl, you are enough! Whenever you post - it's enough. However your pictures look - it's enough! I think everyone (whose blog isn't their main source of income) goes through phases where it just has to go on the back burner to your job and you life! And I think everyone gets that. You'll figure it all out. For now take care of yourself and that precious pup. I hope everything turns out well from his biopsy.

  11. I'm so glad the pupper is ok, I can't imagine how scary that was for you! And yayyyyy for our brunch blate! I was still full last night when it was time to cook dinner. Such amazing food, and a great time with you gurlies :)

And I'm so glad you decided to take the week off from your normal posts, I hope it helped you breathe a little more and enjoy some quality time at home. Remember no matter what you post for the week, this is YOUR blog and your space on the internet to do what you want with it whenever you want. There's no schedule, there's no mandatory topic. It's all about what you want *hugs*. Have a fabulous week!

I am so happy that you're loving work but it's true, it takes a while to figure out your new normal! Don't feel bad for needing a break! It happens to all of us, promise! Your readers will be here when you're ready to get back into it again!

  17. So good seeing you yesterday! The brunch was amazing! If you're feeling overwhelmed then I think taking a break is more than justified. I feel the same way all the time because it really is hard to juggle it all. I hope your pup feels better this week. Poor thing!

  18. Girl blogging and real life balance is tough stuff. I've struggled with it forever. Sometimes I get so frustrated because I get one day off a week and I usually spend it trying to prepare a couple of posts for the following days to come instead of relaxing or doing fun things with friends. We're here and we all understand if you take time off now and then. It's your life, live it! :)

  21. Aww...hope your doggie feels better soon. I totally understand feeling overwhelmed. Since, I work six days a week, I know just how that feel and it sucks. I find keeping a schedule really helps. I literally schedule everything even silly little reminds such as take nail polish off. Also, I'm old school and keep a paper planner. I find writing down my schedule helps me remember it more. I do keep a schedule on my iphone with little alerts set. Heck, I even set an alarm for my tv show! haha. Hang in there, it will get easier. Sometimes, taking a break helps too. If I don't have time to workout, I simply walk during my lunch hour. I find walking in the middle of the head, helps keep my head clear.

  28. awww poor puppy. that is so sad. nothing more sad than a loopy animal :(
girl, you are crazy busy and always blogging - i always wonder how on earth you have time to do everything you do! it's totally more than fine to take a well deserved break. i felt the same a few months ago, just like i couldn't stay on top of everything and my work was definitely falling behind, and i just said screw it. it's great if i can do it all sometimes, but it's not possible all the time for me to stay sane!
blogger brunch lol love it. and the selfies. perfect.

  29. Hope your pup feels better!! That brunch sounds amazing! French toast croissants and mimosas?? That's all I need! Hope you have a good week! I'll be honest when I took my blogging break I really felt refreshed and still haven't really committed myself like I was. I stopped putting pressure on myself to have x amount of posts per week and not to worry so much if I missed someone's post and didn't comment, we all have real lives to live outside our blogs too, they shouldn't be stressful they should be fun! Sounds like your new job is keeping you pretty busy on its own! Take care girl!
