Sequins and Sea Breezes: Work It

Work It

3/26/2015

Happy Friday eve lovelies! It's supposed to rain (again) today so I'm really hoping that Mother Nature gets it out of her system before this weekend so we can have some nice weather! This rain has made me miss my bike rides this week so I'm ready to get back out there and get some exercise in. Although it looks like this rain is bringing a "cold" front through and it's only supposed to be in the 70's this weekend so that's nice. Finally getting a bit of spring weather here! Ok, so enough about the weather let's talk about my outfit, shall we?

Wow, I feel like that sounded so bossy haha! Lately I've been trying to buy more "office" appropriate clothing. I don't have much of a dress code but it is still much more of a professional environment than my previous jobs so I do like to look nice and put together. Keep in mind, in Florida people wear flip flops to church on Sunday so dressed up is definitely in the eye of the beholder but I'm trying to look more "Florida office" appropriate. This top was on of the tops from my J.Crew order a few weeks ago that I just fell in love with. I absolutely love that J.Crew makes so  many pieces that can be taken from day to night and office to play. This silky tank is modest but still sexy and dressy but not too dressy. I had a fairly important meeting on Tuesday with the higher ups in the office  so I figured this tank would be perfect with a lightweight sweater. I decided to pair it with this super cute pencil skirt and some heels and minimal jewelry to keep things less flashy and more sophisticated. Where do all my office ladies do most of their shopping? I've been all about J.Crew and Express lately but I'd love to hear of some other awesome places for cute and versatile work clothes!

  1. YAY, Friday's eve!!! We are supposed to be in the 70s with rain today, but hey it's the 70s so I'm stoked! I'm hoping for a nice weekend, too!

Love your outfit. The blouse and pencil skirt look awesome together and the shoes give them a bit of flash. And check out those calves, girl…ow ow!

I usually shop at Loft, Express and quite often Macy's for my office attire. 99% of the time everything is on sale, too. We don't have an exact dress code either, but like you I like to look professional more often then not. But, when it's snowy I embrace the fact I can wear jeans and a fleece.

    Have a great day!

I seriously have way more work clothes than real clothes and it's mostly dresses since then I don't have to think of anything in the mornings lol!! xo, Biana - BlovedBoston

And I hear ya on the weather, I'm over this rain and gloom but a tad upset that it's been warm all week and when I can get to the beach or lay by the pool this weekend it'll be too chilly :-P

  19. I love this outfit, you look fab of course! These Jcrew tops are my favorite. I have a few printed ones and they go on major repeat. I have been trying to revamp my work wardrobe too but it is certainly not as fun especially when you work in an ultra conservative profession! I stick with classic shift dresses and mix up my suit jackets (daring, I know!)

  20. Love this outfit!! I usually shop at Express for most business attire. But JCPenny has amazing sales on work pants and tops all the time. I go in there too.

Love love love. I really need to get to our J Crew outlet and see if I can find some things for my spring wardrobe.
